News reel not working since new look

The news reel (I didn't really know what to call it, but its the thing on the front page with the images linking to the main articles rotating automatically) with the main articles of the day is not working for me.

It does not cycle through the articles or even allow me to click on them my self. I can't open the links at all either.

I am using

Opera 11.52 (no I won't use another browser)
Windows 7 SP1 x64

Please help or fix this. It's very irritating.
 
Thanks for pointing that out. Something strange is going on there... It does work for me in Opera, but it takes an age to load.

The headline box of news scroller thingy, no longer scrolls. You hover your mouse over the images on the right to see the different headlines.

Once the page has loaded everything seems fine; but yeah, that loading time is a problem. We'll look into that.

update:

Okay, after doing a few refreshes, it loads a lot faster. Guess the new site wasted cached. Have you tried the page more than once at this point?

Okay well I gave it a try, the loading for the page is quite quick. I cleared my cache to make sure, but the same happens. I left the page to see what happens but it shows the page as completely loaded, and the reel is still broken.

I tried refreshing about 20 times, but neither did that help.

Thanks for the feedback. We'll see if we can replicate the problems on Monday, and we'll have the developers look into it.
 
Similarly related-I cannot watch the videos on the news reel either. It just shows a picture where the video should play.

Firefox 8.0
Windows 7 64-bit
 
Yeah, don't worry about that. That's an old video article.

We ditched the old video plugin because it was terrible. We'll have some new video articles up starting Monday :)

Just another note-shouldnt you take off those videos that dont work then? Or relink the videos?
 
Yeah, I'll think about what to do with the old video articles. Might just need to purge... Or post a ton of cool new videos articles and forget about the old ones :P
 
Clicking on the pictures to open the articles seems to work fine now. It still doesn't auto rotate like it used to, but I'm fine with just being able to open them again.

No problem.

The auto-rotate is no longer a feature. It was annoying and slowed down the site.
 
Ah okay. Thats fine for me anyway, I also thought it wasn't the best thing to have anyway.

So everything seems to be working 100% now in Opera. Awesome!
