NFS Shift or DiRT 2

I was planning on buying Batman at the end of the month, but then a friend of mine got it so I decided rather than spending R700 on a game I'll finish in a few days I'll just borrow it from him and get something else.

I'm mainly looking for something to take the frustrations of Demon's Souls out on, so I reckon a racing game would be perfect. But now both NFS Shift and DiRT 2 are being released simultaneously and I cannot decide which one of the two to go for. Please help :D

NFS Shift is apparently a sim this time round as opposed to the previous arcade racing NFS titles

I am busy playing Dirt2 and it is really cool so far. Will be receiving Shift tomorrow so I can give you a more educated opinion after the weekend :D

That would be really appreciated, I'm only getting paid on the 26th or 27th so after the weekend would be perfect. :D

I think it's a personal choice. Do you prefer rally or street racing? Personally I prefer the new NFS, although I havn't played DiRT2.

The new NFS is nothing short of amazing, although the controls are difficult to master. I couldn't control the Porche Cayman S, but I will say one thing. If you like fast car's and track racing, there is nothing like getting behind the wheel of a Bugatti Veyron and flooring it at 350km/h. :D The game convey's speed very well, too well when you start to decelerate because you literally feel the car may spin wildly out of control if you dont.
I find it a really difficult game to master, but incredibly rewarding when you pull off some really neat cornering and clean laps :)

The interior's of the car are really awesome, I also agree with the IGN review, where they say the sound in the game really helps create a racing atmosphere. Some of those cars really feel like they come alive when your pedal hits the floor :)
Absolutely loving the new NFS, and I prefer it as more of a Sim game, even though there is a whole car upgrade system, and a very advanced performance tweaking system.

All I need now is to renew my XBL Gold Subscription :( so I can do some car battles.

I don't really prefer either rally or street racing. I enjoy most (if not all) racing games. I just want something that's a lot of fun, as I need to take my frustrations out on it. I'm basically still hooked on Demon's Souls (and I will be fore a long time still), but it's insanely difficult and get frustrating at times. That's why I want a racing game, when I get so frustrated that I wanna throw my toys around, I just wanna play a racing game to relax, so I'm looking for the most fun one of the two.

Hehe i understand where you are comming from. Well all I can say is NFS is alot of fun, but still challenging, especially if you're the kind of gamer who turns off all the braking assists, steering assists, traction control etc like I do.

Will be receiving my Dirt 2 this weekend :)

I LOVED dirt 1 and the Dirt 2 demo was amazing :)

As far as track sims go, I will rather wait til Forza 3 :)

I have no idea, but I know for a fact that Shift is only being released locally on Friday, and DiRT2 as well (although the PC version of DiRT2 is only coming early next year)

Ummm are you talking about me???

Mine only arrives on Monday.... Why do you think I have it?

BUT if you do want it I heard zaps or kalahari are selling it early (could be wrong)

If you looking at my Sig.... those games are Burnout Paradise, ashes, PES2008, Gears 2 and battlefield 1943.....

I reckon i'll prob get Dirt2, reviews so far has been excellent on interwebz :) And then swap it out later again for Shift if it lives up to expectations

Dohc-WP if you are referring to me, a friend was able to bring me a 360 copy from the UK. Otherwise I import my 360 games since it's cheaper than buying locally.. unfortunately :/

Just walked into BT games and saw that they have both NFS SHIFT and DiRT 2 on their shelves!!!! I want it, but payday is still so far away :(
