NFS Shift (PC) vs. Forza 3

Okay, so this past weekend I went out and bought myself a copy of the latest Need for Speed: Shift. Now, like most Need for Speed fans I was hesitant to buy this latest title, but, after reading some reviews on this game it was clear things were back on track (hehehe) for the NFS franchise, and it was also time for me to get a decent racer title for the PC.

Being fortunate enough to own a PS3, XBOX 360 and a pretty decent PC, I can give a proper comparison between Forza Motorsport 3 and the PC Edition of NFS: Shift.

After spending the same amount of time on both titles I found the following:

Graphics: This is a tough call. You need a very powerful PC to run NFS Shift properly with enough eye-candy turned on to slightly overtake the graphics on Forza 3. Overall for most gamers, Forza 3 will prove to have better graphics. However, if you have a powerful enough PC you'll definitely be rewarded with a superb looking game - no doubts there.

Sound: Forza 3 has the upper hand here. Sorry. Being a petrol head as well as a gamer I can honestly say the car sounds in Forza 3 are more spot-on and technically correct than Shift.

Gameplay: Forza 3's control seems more lifelike and realistic. Shift is a bit more like an arcade racer and the cars tend to be very tail-happy. I prefer Forza 3's control scheme because I like simulation more than arcade, but for the kind of game that Shift is, the control scheme works very well.

Another factor that I want to mention here is that the sense of speed in Shift is a LOT more than in Forza 3. I actually got really tense doing 200km/h in Shift. Something that doesn't seem to bother me in Forza 3. I don't know if it's just me though, but the cars seems very "twitchy" on high speed in Shift? That's odd because doing 200km/h in an Audi S3 is NOTHING...I know first hand. The car is NOT unstable at all. So the sense of speed in Shift is great but it may be a bit, overdone?

Overall: I find the game that will keep me the busiest is Forza 3. It has more cars and more tracks and just looks like the kind of game that was designed to keep you glued. That doesn't make Shift the loser by any means. If you don't own a console and you're a die hard PC gamer looking for a PROPER racing title then Need for Speed Shift on the PC is the title you're looking for without a doubt!!

***UPDATE***

Okay NFS Shift is a bit dodge. It starts out pretty easy and then all hell breaks loose with the difficulty. One race I end up 3rd, then I upgrade my car up to the teeth and I end up 6th in the same race? WTF!? This is an epic game for the PC but I definately give the advantage to Forza 3 thanks! At least there if I add a turbo charger the size of Pretoria to my car I stand SOME chance of winning!

Shift Is not Worth Its Money.... NFS:SH!T is what they could have called it. Controle on the cars is TOTALY unreal, even the older Titles of NFS, had better handling.. I Have Played the game on 2 differant steering weels, keybord, and 2 Different Controlers, No matter how you set the controle sensitivity, the handling is whell "Shit". I have a pretty decent ATI Card, and also played it on a Monster Dual Processor I7 8gb Low Latancy memory. with Solid Sate Drives and Running 2 5800 Series cards in Crossfire.

The Game Runs On that Machine the exact same as on mine. But the problem with the game just skipping frames, at places where the Cards dont have to "work" that hard, is only on ATI, no matter what card you have, from a Ati2600XT to the bigest and best one.... From Tier 3 you cant play with frames skips, and game LAG...

So If I owned a XBOX360 or a PS3, I would go and BUY Forza 3. Coz that game Rules.

If you want a propper almost simulation track racing game on the pc Buy Race Driver Grid.(Online it is even more fun)

Uhm...if you can tell me where I could buy a copy of GRID for the PC I would be willing to MILK YOU.

BT Games, Sterkinikor...
As far as I know, you can place a order @ BT games.

Or Buy a NVidia GTX260(cant remember spesific brand) and you get it with the displaycard.

lol buying a GFX card for the game it comes with is kinda silly? I've tried to get GRID for the PC everywhere, no one has stock and it seems that's how it's going to stay.
