Who's getting one?

I bought one from BT Games yesterday and I must say, I'm really impressed by this spiffy little thing. In fact, I've always admired Nintendo because, creatively, it's always been one step ahead of its fellow giant console developers.

After having posted a rather excited status on Failbook, however, I got slammed down by an Microsoft fanboy that Nintendo is nothing but a corporation that makes its money through remakes and rehashes. I didn't really care because, for me, if a game is fun and I receive enjoyment from it, I couldn't care about the politics. In my wayward youth, I was once a fangirl but now I couldn't be bothered.

Opinions?

I don't see How Nintendo does Re-makes and Rehashes? If they are referring to the Recurring Poke'mon and Zelda themes, then I'm sorry but is Gears of War, God Of War, Infamous, Uncharted, Halo, Street Fighter not a recurring series on the PS3 and XBOX360??

As for the Wii I feel the same, Nintendo brought us motion gaming with the Wii. Shows us Nintendo has a trump card that they not afraid to use and that is innovation. Most of their products are a success and they use them to make and or improve the next one in their line up. Look at the Wii U it's a DSXL and a Wii rolled into one!

Got my 3DS last year a day after launch... been loving it so far. I also go with Nintendo for getting something different, I had a DS Lite and loved it to bits even though the PSP was waaaay more powerful, the DS just had better games. So when the 3DS came out I had to get the next gen. Not for the 3D. For the gameplay.
I have a PC so no need for a XBOX, PS3, PSVita.... unless I have money then I won't mind.

Don't worry about people badmouthing Nintendo stuff, they will always be there. I love it, got it on launch. PM me your friend code, we can try to share some stuff sometime.

We need a official thread here... stickied

Agreed. I have had a chat with James before about having a sort of sub-forum for handheld gaming, but he had a fair answer about why it won't work right now. There needs to be more interest on the forum in handheld gaming. Until something like that happens though, I'll be more than happy with a sticky thread where we can post stuff about 3DS and Vita.

My opinion regarding all things Nintendo:

Nobody can doubt Nintendo's trendsetting and innovation. They basically popularised motion controlled gaming (remember how PS and Xbox fans insulted the Wii because of the controllers, only to introduce motion gaming a few years later?), introduced touch screens on handheld gaming and now they're setting the bar with 3D screens and 'tablet' controllers.

Something you should also remember about Nintendo - their consoles are unique and they treat it as a unique console. They don't just port console games to their handhelds (like how PlayStation games are directly 'ported' to the PSP and now Vita).

They develop games that utilize the unique attributes of their consoles, using the dual screens, stylus and 3D to create a one-of-a-kind experience.

Yes - there are quite a lot of Nintendo franchises that receives ports/sequels but it's usually so good that you don't mind playing it twice! Especially since the last time you probably played it was 6 or 7 years ago.

That's not to say Nintendo never introduces new franchises anymore!

Take Kid Icarus: Uprising. This is the first Kid Icarus game in 20 years - and it's nothing like the NES and GB games! It's completely unique in its gameplay and control scheme!

Meh - I'm a fanboy. One that gets really upset when people slander games without actually playing it.

Sweet, seems like this thread is picking up some more posts, let's keep it going. I see that someone posted in here about maybe getting a 3DS at the end of the month. I wrote an introductory page in the "How To" section of this forum, which I am trying to spruce up a bit and I might need some help with suggestions from 3DS users. Check it out here.

Please tell me what you would like to see and we can make it current and awesome.

Lol I'll pm you mine.... I must also write it down, I rely on a Nintendo Forum to get my code XD
