Nintendo 3DS

I was think about that, not sure if the 3D feature really appeals to me but I might try it just for the heck of it since the DSi and the 3DS price is diff is only about £29. The 3DS XL does look cool but its £170 new with no game which seems a bit heavy to me.

Yeah I saw the price on the link. For the same functionality, £50 is not really worth it, unless you would like the bigger screen. The normal screen size is just fine. More value for money = 3DS + NSMB2.

Yeah, Id have to actually see the size of the XL compared to the regular one to say. IMO bigger screen is better :p

I do see the game has the XL for £179 with the new Super Mario Bros.

Edit: So I went to Game over lunch to make sure the the £179 wasn't an online only deal ( I refuse to buy anything from GAME online) and not only is it not an online only deal they also had a regular 3ds and the xl version on demo. I think XL is a good call for me. I have big hands and the regular 3ds felt tiny in my paws, especially the little thumb stick. So yeah. I spoke to the Mrs and she said its fine I can blow half my weeks salary on the XL.

Can someone explain to me why it doest come with a A/C adapter? O.o

Yeah. They wanted to keep costs down and they expect that people who will be buying this to already have the charger, because owning more than one Nintendo handheld are supposedly quite common. Although, the charger really isn't that expensive.

There is something else to consider before you buy the XL: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/997614-nintendo-3ds/63829149/714179121

I've been checking out reviews for the XL and these things dont pop up.
This made me laugh:

) DS games look horrible both stretched and native resolution. they look blurry and faded.

If you press Start and Select while DS games they enter what is called 1:1 pixel mode which, according to a review make them look "razor sharp rather than stretched to suit the 3DS's 16:9 screen"

I think I've pretty much made up my mind, I looked on Amazon at the regular DSi XL and at £139 it just seems like a waste when there is something new out.

Awesomesauce. Did you get the bundle with SNMB2?

I'm going to go to game over lunch today and get it yeah. Yeah the one with NSMB2 although I am hugely tempted by Pokemon Black & Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.

I've got black, still have Ocarina on my shopping list. When you get it, send your friend code my way via PM.

No, not yet. Planning to though. They aren't really abundant in this country, along with Ace Attorney. But there is a new Layton heading our way with the 3DS.

I see they follow each other so I might start with the first and work my way down. In no rush, Super Mario Bros, Zelda, Pokemon are all much higher on my 2 play list.

So you've played the older Pokemon games I see. Many people were disappointed with Black & White, but I digged it.

Yeah Played Yellow, Red/Blue, Gold and Trading Card Game back in my school days. I am ashamed to say it was on a emulator so I am keen to actually buy them (Heart Gold, Platinum, Emerald etc). I've always loved the Pokemon games, Ive read a few reviews for Black and it looks like a few nice changes where implemented. I wish they would make a new trading card game game.

My biggest gamer shame... I've never owned a Nintendo device, never played a Zelda game and have only ever tried Super Mario at a friends.....

Hehehe. I am a Nintendo Ambassador so I got some neat SNES and Gameboy games, like 3 different Zelda games. First time I played a Zelda game was OoT on a N64 emulator a few years ago. Keen on getting it for the 3DS now. Besides that, I do have Skyward Sword on the Wii and that is teh AWESOME.

Yeah, backwards compatibility for the win. Just not sure about the motion controlling though...
Also, were you even into Mario Kart?

Nope missed it completely. My first ever console was an Xbox, my parents believed that "tv games" broke tvs. O.o

I played some DD Kong Racing on a/with a friend's N64. I played it a bit yesterday on the 3ds xl at Game when I checked the sizes, when I get my wife her DS (yep my wife is getting her own 3DS XL in 2 or 3 weeks) we may get it to play together.

Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS is seriously addictive. My GF isn't much of a gamer, but she got hooked on that badly.
