No Man's Sky

Oh and I see that alt-tabbing doesn't work so don't try it. Also the quit the game menu item is in the Options and not under the main menu.

Will you guys be playing with mouse and keyboard or controller? I think I'm going to go the controller route.

This is my conundrum too. I'm going to give mouse and keyboard a try and decide from there, I reckon.

Lame. No windowed fullscreen option?

Okay I'm bombarding the thread while it's downloading.

The game is limited to 30fps but it can be changed in the graphics menu.

Quite a few people are getting horrible fps even on cards like the 980ti and the 1080. Other people have no problems. It appears that SLI isn't supported from what people are saying.

I'm glad to say that I get a constant 60+ fps with everything at its highest except antialiasing which is just set to on. I don't get frame drops but there seems to be a microstutter when moving the camera.

Now though, it's time to game!

I'm glad to say that I go the microstutter fixed! Turned off v-sync and the fps set to MAX and I'm getting 120 fps and everything is running smoothly!

The v-sync is definitely a culprit here by me.

Loving the game so far!

I have to go back to the first shelter I found because I didn't realise that I could go inside the buildings. Also will have to name my second planet DieGrootHammer because it looks like after you upload something new you can't rename it afterwards. So far I'll be renaming my species and planets. The plants and things can stay as they are. :D

Here are the first shots from my planet. I renamed it Meitner, after Lise Meitner. I tried to name it Meitner Lamda, using the actual lamda symbol, but I recently formatted and hadn't loaded my custom keyboard config yet.

When I clicked back from Alt-Tabbing, it accepted the name I had already typed into the box, and you can't change it once it's been set. Oh well.

Nice!

I also changed FPS to max and the game was much smoother. Disabled V-Sync now and will see if that gets rid of the occasional stutter I still had.

This is on a GTX 970, running everything on High (shadows not on Ultra) with FXAA at 1920x1200.

Issues to report

My game launched in Bordered window mode, which sucked.

Even in full screen mode Nvidia Shadow Play doesn't work - I had to turn on desktop recording. Alt-tabbing in full screen mode also causes the game to irrecoverably black screen.

Switched to borderless window mode, and that seems to be working.

I tried playing with keyboard and mouse, but it is clear that the controls weren't redesigned for PC. Holding buttons for a second or two to interact with stuff just doesn't feel right.

So I'm switching to a controller for now...

no, this isn't my first planet. the first 4 that I visited were bland and barren. this is the 1st Tropical planet (aptly named "Bloem") and a view of my sexxxynew ship

Bought the game, cant believe I did that, considering the natpoepreen that hit reddit about PC game. Oh well, 3 hour download then I will see how stupid I was.

I just want a chill game.
