My starter planet. Was pretty awesome just a little cold. Named it Happy Qresh. Happy because of my steam name and Qresh because sounds like creche and also a name from a planet in Killjoys.

Also thought I would upload a bonus image (not of my starter planet)

21slot alien ship.jpg
My starter planet with the spaceship I found standing around in the desert. A friendly alien sold it to me. Not a pretty sight but its 21 slots, better than the starter ship.

I want to start the atlas path now but I have NO idea where to go to get back to my original spot to use the emergency beacon ;-(

Loving the game so far!

I have to go back to the first shelter I found because I didn't realise that I could go inside the buildings. Also will have to name my second planet DieGrootHammer because it looks like after you upload something new you can't rename it afterwards. So far I'll be renaming my species and planets. The plants and things can stay as they are. :D
Dude, you named a planet after me.... [emoji4] [emoji4] [emoji4]

In other news, I bought the game and will test it tonight to see if it runs on my system. If not, I'll be buying a new GPU to get it running. I've read what I could in my little spare time about the game, warts and all, and I still cannot wait to play it. I simply must have this game.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, please put on the damned landing lights, we cant see the airport!

By accident found a great way to get across level ground: hit your melee key (q) and then hold down your jetpack button, weeeeee!

Also noticed that when you upgrade your multitool and you put the upgrades next to the part you are upgrading (like your beam focus next to the mining laser block) that it goes all green, does this mean anything?

In the meantime, I've tested the game on my system, and it crashes to desktop at startup. It kinda looks like my older CPU architecture isn't supported by the game. Maybe they'll patch in support, maybe they won't.. So I'll need a new CPU (and thus motherboard and RAM) and new GPU before I can go flying :(

What do you have at the moment?

What do you have at the moment?

A 6 year old rig :) It served me very well, this is the first game that I can't run, since I don't mind turning graphics down to medium, and it was great value for money. Got this lot in June/July 2010:

AMD AthlonTM II X4 635 2.9GHz x 4 Quad Core CPU
Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H USB 3.0 & Sata 6GB/s Motherboard
ATI Radeon HD 5850 1GB DDR5 DX11 Graphic Card
4GB (2 x 2GB)1333mhz ddr3 Gaming ram

The only upgrades I've made over the years were to replace the RAM with 8GB of AMD ram that I won from MyGaming (Thanks, guys!) and added more storage space. When I get some cash saved up, I'll probably get an i5 system, but that won't be before the end of the year. The good news is that I can then get NMS at the Xmas sale! :D

EDIT: Oooh, found some info. It looks like SSE4.1 emulation is the culprit. Reddit has a possible fix that I'm going to try a little later.

Ah oky. If you're interested, I recently upgraded and still have my old parts.

i5 2500K @ 3.3ghz (OC's to 4.5ghz with no voltage tweaks on air)
Asus P67 Sabertooth mobo
4 x 2gb ddr3 1600mhz cl7 ram
Noctua NH d14 cpu cooler

Also have a old gtx570, but not sure if it still works, haven't used it in a while

We have told you this before. You cant use the word vrou in that context if you are not married. Please use terms like betty or ho or bint.

OPINION TIME!!!!!

On Hello Games:

Sean Murray seems like a really bright guy. I believe he is a brilliant mathematician and programmer, but he is not a good business man or marketer at all. I've posted this before, and I'll say it again, the marketing done for this game has been horrible. Marketing isn't just getting the word out of your product, it is creating and managing a perception of your product or service. A perception that Hello Games was not able to create fully. Never in the whole build-up of the game was anyone able to encapsulate the true nature of the game, stating categorically what it is and what you do in it. The biggest question asked before the launch was "What is NMS?" and "What do you actually do in it?". All questions that you shouldn't have to ask when researching a game of this level of hype.

But here it the problem, NMS is at heart an indie game, created by an indie studio, on an indie budget. It isn't a game that will appeal to the masses. It it a very niche game for a very niche market. The problem is, and here I am speculating, is that Sony blew this game out of proportions in order to have exclusive access to the "biggest game of all time". Biggest in sheer size of map and near endless possibilities. They thought they have their own version of Minecraft on their hands. But it was never the intention of the game to be anything on that level. It was never supposed to rise to the meteoric levels of hype that was created behind it, and for that reason it's been lambasted as a failure and game full of lies. This is a perception that is not good for either NMS or Hello Games at all. This perception will haunt them for years to come.

Now I know, you here reading this may be thinking "but I get what the game is and it's great", and yes, I share that sentiment, but we are part of the niche market this game is supposed to be aimed at. We are the type of gamers that would've latched onto this game even if it didn't have the full hype train going. We would've raved about it on forums, Youtube videos, tweets and more. We would've created word-of-mouth perception of a game where we say exactly what you can and can't do, what type of game it is, and urge people to try it. More people would have gone into the game with the right mindset and the correct expectations. The view and perception of the game would've been much better. But alas, this is not the case

So yes, NMS got their name out there and I'm pretty sure it had some amazing sales behind it, but it was all for nothing if they cannot have a product that will stand the test of time. Elite Dangerous has even less to do in it, yet the perception is much more positive about that game than NMS, not because it is a better game, but because it was always aimed at the right target market, was marketed to them correctly, and those core gamers have been keeping it afloat for many years and will continue to play it for many years to come. It knows it's not for everyone, and it's okay with that. NMS should've adopted that approach. It should never have been a top billing game, and it doesn't warrant or need the hype it created for itself. It failed dismally and because of that will always battle a negative image of the game, Sean Murray and Hello Games.

OPINION CONTINUED!!!!!!

On No Man Sky - the game and my feelings towards it:

Let me start off by saying that this game is freaking amazing!!! I've only put in 4 hours into it so far, but man what an amazing experience, despite my PC not being able to handle it fully.

NMS is not for everyone. It is for a very specific gamer, one that is capable of creating his/her own narrative within a game and drive them on. NMS does not push you into a direction, nor does it really give you any direction. What it does is give you 1.8 quintilian different planets to roam along freely in a vast and open galaxy. The sheer scale is the price of admission itself.

On another note, Fuck Jim Sterling and fuck TB!!!
