I think you might be in for a nasty surprise then...

I havent submitted once either malice :P
if you fell in the R120 000 per annum salary bracket and didn't submit your returns annually they will penalize the shit out of you

mate of mine lost a couple of bar because he only file his 2010 return last year

Nope Ive never made near that - this year Im still a fair bit away from that :S
no but then you're fine. it's only if you earned more than the R120 000 p/a that you HAVE to do the returns or pay the consequences

AAh ok that makes more sense.

Imjust now trying to figure out if its worth my while to file it. aka about what I could get out - cos that could fill a unisa cheque sized gap

I have plenty of experience with them, most recently how they have decided to close our company for the second time this year - even though we submit our VAT and PAYE/UIF on time - they also didnt bother to let us know once again that they are not allocating the funds we have been paying to the right accounts.

We only found this out when we tried to get tax clearance certificates so that we can tender on gov projects.

Sounds like my companies problem. But I think it was the boss and his friend trying to be clever that screwed everything up.

I always fill in the return honestly. It's not that difficult, like 2 mins work.

Today must be national idiot day....3 fuckin pages and not a single person notices that IT IS A SCAM.

The included link points to:

Have fun with the identify theft.

And to clarify the other nonsense:

Everyone who earns an income needs to submit a tax return. Yes even if you're below the tax threshold - it just says zero at the end.

I think you may be jumping to conclusions there. The links look like simple tracking links, which most mass emailers embed into links so that they can track clicks. The links still go to sars.gov.za

That reminds me of the saying. Not knowing about a tax law is no defence with the tax man.

Wow. The R250k info actually checks out.

Still don't trust that link though.

Apologies to all that felt insulted by my post.:o

Yeah, who's the idiot now? :p I can't blame you though, so many scams around these days it's hard to know who to trust.

Plus one to that, sire. If this was the case, I would have thought that this would be a lot more publicised? This sort of limit isn't doubled but usually increased by logical values which mirror inflation. Not?

Regardless, I happily submit my return. Mainly because I have a travel allowance that I am taxed @ 100%, so any mileage is a refund. Add to this I have a RAs which also are deductions on my tax... meaning refund as opposed to paying in.

Like HavocX I am sceptical.

Regardless, I happily submit my return. Mainly because I have a travel allowance that I am taxed @ 80%, so any mileage is a refund. Add to this I have a RAs which also are deductions on my tax... meaning refund as opposed to paying in.

Fixed it for you
