Nokia N97 Locked (but not)

Hey guys.

Yesterday I hard reset my phone (caps lock, backspace, power button etc). missing a button there but whatever.

It hard reset formatted the phone great and fresh and stuff and asked me for my lock code.. heavens help me if I can remember that. I only use a certain amount of numbers and I tried them but doesnt work.

Either way.... the phone asks me the lock code and depending on the amount of times I got it right will say "Code Error" or entered incorrectly 5 times wait 5 minutes blah blah. Either way after either of those messages coming up it just lets me into the phone until I restart the phone again or I go to settings -> phone management etc and try change the lock code it will ask again for the lock code and it will say its wrong but just let me back into the phone again.

Ive tried a few methods using nemesis to reset the lock code but didnt work. seems these devices have a bit extra layer of crap to get through compared to other phones..

So what exactly has happened here that it keeps asking for the lock code at startup and lets me through? Why did it start asking for it? Weird stuff.

i.e technically I still appear to have full use of the phone.. it just annoyingly asks for my lock code that I dont seem to be able to get right at startup and it falls away again.

If you hard-reset your phone, doesn't it ALSO reset all of your codes too? Please tell me you tried the DEFAULT lock code as well???

Here is an extract from another forum that may help?

For some unknown and weird reasons I could not get and send SMS from my N95 phone, neither could I access my logs. Very annoying and I had to go through an hard reset to fix that… here is the process:

* Backup the content with Nokia PC Suite (which get better every day)
* *#7370# Soft reset code (restore factory setting but do not loose any applications/datas), did not do the job, still unable the sms/logs problems.
* *#7780# Hard reset code (loose everything…) did the job (source #)
* FYI the default lock code is “12345″ (source #)
* Restore the content with Nokia PC Suite, which I actually did not do, a new synchronisation with Outlook did the job for me (really awesome!)
