North West province needs a name change, premier Thandi Modise said on Thursday.

Speaking in the provincial legislature in Mmabatho on her office's budget and policy, Modise said the province should no longer simply be a direction on a map.

"We cannot be a 'direction' or a position on the compass when we have [had the] calibre of leaders from our province like Malome Moses Kotane," she said.

Now the want to rename provinces, eish this country is too much. What's wrong with a compass point, your in the north west, its not racist nor offensive, leave it be.

Stop wasting our money on crap, it's pathetic, next thing you know they will say South Africa as name for a country needs to be changed to Zuma.

Wasn't there talks already about changing South Africa's name? I remember something about it but I didn't care enough to find out more at the time.

its like they dont have any work to do and then they suddenly have an epiphany, oh wait lets change the name of this province and that street

Really do wish they would leave things well enough as they are. Every time they change it every South African has to change it because a few people didn't like it the way it was.
I thought everything was now about the minority not making the decisions that the majority of the country don't feel is right?

Perhaps they can start ringing the changes in the province by the removal of a premier who adds diddly squat to the province. Instead of sorting out corruption, fraud, nepotism, cronyism and laziness, the esteemed premier would rather change a name which would actually cost money than save money.
