Not Scary ,Scary Movies

So I just watched Evil Dead ( the New one )
And either Im just too grown up to get scared anymore or these movies have lost the ability to scare .
I keep hoping that something will come out that has that real tense and terrifying factor
But it seems I get more of a scare from my Light Bill than these movies.

AM I alone in this , does anyone even get scared by these movies anymore? or is more just about the gore

Not "anymore" , more like never. Been watching horror movies since I was 4 or 5, the only movie that got me quite scared is The 6th Day ( even though not a horror ) . A few movies that had my heart pounding a bit were 30 Days of Night and 28 days/weeks Later. That's about it, I don't watch horror movies anymore because they are all so fu**ing boring. If you want something to get your attention, try some torture porn movies like 7Days or Salo or Borderland or the famous Saw, but I usually save them for rare occasions when I'm very bored.

Just move into the found footage genre. Problem solved.

Sincerely,
That guy who hasn't slept in weeks.

The problem is, those aren't really horror movies. They're slashers intended to disgust the audience or make them cringe, not really to scare them. I can't stand those kinds of movies, simply because I find the entire concept a bit boring. Also, I get very queasy from seeing injuries on the big screen. I couldn't stand to watch a few scenes in the Game of Thrones season 3.

The last Not Scary ,Scary Movie I watched was The Cabin in the Woods.

Maybe a few jump-scares, but nothing that had me holding my seat or covering my mouth in shock and horror.

Guys yea well im not really looking to watch a horror movie Im say they arnt scary anymore .
Anyone remember IT, or a few of the old Stephan King classic movies .
Those were worth the watch .

Graal is right these slasher movies are just shock and gore no real sense of uneasiness or morbid fear and the found footage
naaah the shaky cams loose my appeal and I always get lost in the logic of why anyone in danger would still keep filming

The question is are we now just too numb to the Horror genre.

I think they just don't make them like they used to. Look at older movies like Event Horizon etc. That shit scared me!

I agree, either I have become immune or these movies have lost their ability to scare, the last one that made me uneasy was the exorcist

The real mind-muckers definitely are in the minority these days, where gore seems to have taken precedence. I do still like me a ghost story and got a couple skriks from Grave Encounters (first one) but it's not like a good few years back when you could have a choice of good scares :(

the last "scary" movie I saw that actually got to me a bit was Sinister, but evil kids are my kryptonite....

I don't know why everyone thought Event Horizon was scary? WTF? It was a space drama.... :D

I don't get scared in movies, but had a fright in "Insidious" where me and the wife both bounced at one specific part...

Space Drama? Pfffft! The subliminal images is enough to freak me the hell out. If that is a drama I am the pope :p

Event Horizon was quite hectic. Dead Space made me think of that movie when I played it

That was a cool movie not scary but original I liked it

I love the Paranormal Activities 1 - 4. I think the whole idea of it being "real" makes it scary.
