Notch challenges Bethesda to Quake 3 match to settle lawsuit

I hope they drop the lawsuit ,
honestly,
this would be like me getting copyright on the word "the"
any time anyone uses THE , I sue them,
any more using the word THE END , The is MINE , I own it , Suck it !
No , lets be nice now,
you cant copyright a single word from the dictionary and think you can pester people for legal money.
(well apparently you can , but I think its just plain stupid and shouldnt be allowed)

Its one thing to think up a name like Nintendo and ok cool you own it ,
its another thing to have a game called Elder Scrolls and then getting a lawyer when someone uses the word Scrolls for a game that has jack shit to do with your game with a different name.

Heres another example,
Should Lucas Arts sue Max Payne makers as they own the name Max from SAM & MAX ?
Should Blizzard sue World Of Tanks and it sounds too much like World Of Warcraft ?
Should "Metal Gear Solid" , "Gears of War" and "Cogs" have a quake match too to see whos infringing on what ?
Should Dungeon Keeper , Dungeons & Dragons , Dungeons and any other game ever to be released containing the word Dungeon be sue'd by the original Dungeon's & Dragons makers for infringing on their word ?
How about Dragon's Lair , Dragon Age and Double Dragon ?

I can keep thinking of more but I think you get the point im getting to here,
people shouldn't be allowed to copyright a dictionary word.
all hell would break loose and people are already nuts as it is.

What they are proposing is funny, and all, but it would be really hilarious if Bethesda picked up on that deal. I doubt it though and these developers will unfortunately be bullied into changing their game title.

ROFL!!!! Reminds me of Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh/Medbots...

Guy1: "You stole my Mighty King Steer, I want it back..."
Guy2: "Hahaha well you can't have it"
Guy1: "I challage you to a Poke Battle/Duel/RoBattle"
Guy2: "Challenge accepted"

But still.... This is AWESOME lol.

A livestream would be great.

They should definitely do it. And hopefully after a couple of rounds of good 'ol Quake, Bethesda will get some sense knocked into them and realize the stupidity of their lawsuit and just drop it altogether wirusy. x_x

....or they could bunnyhop and headshot the sh*t out of eachother and exchange some insults. :D

This is so awesome now bethesda will spend less money/time in courts and spend a 3 hour match of a game settleing it. I bet you notch and his 3 best warriors are practicing hard.

How about screw that, and not use the limited 26 character alphanumeric alphabet. Scrolls can be in any language(jap, chinese, russian, ?arabic?). You cant copyright a sound can you? Thats like copyrighting everyone being allowed to speak... Ima sue you if you make that oo sound again in foo. Because I copyrighted foo. And every other individual sound. Pay up if you want to talk. lol...

How about greek? looks pretty cool. κύλισης
And whenever you see that just think of scrolls, copyrights cant cross word meanings, I hope. Besides, the dumbshit american lawyer would nod his head in agreement that its a better name, as it makes no sense(to him).

But on a serious note, if bethesda denies the challenge, and continues law suit... Also they could accept challenge, and lose badly, and drop lawsuit. They could accept challenge and lose badly and not drop lawsuit. They could win challenge and drop/not drop lawsuit. They could deny challenge drop lawsuit.

What should happen in theory is they lose lawsuit as the credibility is poor, and so is the competition. If they happen to win lawsuit, then there was obviously some passing of money under the table/in the backroom. Besides, why doesnt notch counter sue for anti competition/bethesda monopolising. This could result in a politial battle, which I'm sure bethesda doesnt want to become the heat of. Also might come in light of the near release of skyrim(skyrim is bethesda right?)

And you can bet that somewhere in the dark tower of Bethesda, some dude is sharpening his pwn skills so that he gets selected, in case Bethesda accepts the challenge.

Courts are boring. Lawsuits go on forever and lawyers are usually the only winners. I agree with this - a modern, non deadly duel.

It's a pointless case to start with it's like Windows vs Lindows, at the end of the day the case thrown out and the judge even questioned if Microsoft can even trademark the word windows.

Although the match might be fun none the less...
