It's okay, we understand your confusion, but the news here isn't that NVIDIA uses CoTweet as its Twitter client. What's exciting is that the GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470 -- the company's first to use the new Fermi architecture -- are just over a month from release. Friday, March 26th, and given that also happens to coincidence with the kickoff date for Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) East 2010 (of which NVIDIA is a major sponsor), we tend to think that's not just some convenience coincidence.

Shyt, thats near so about two more months for SA since we dont get it exactly when it releases. Need to go upgrading again.

I have been postponing my new pc waiting to see if I am going for Fermi or the 5970, so I would really like them to start releasing some performance stats or benchmark test of the dam stuff.

GIGABYTE Posiden 310 Chasis | AMD Phenom II X4 965 Quad-Core | Asus Crosshair III Formula Motherboard | GIGABYTE GTX 295 GPU | 4GB Cosair Dominator DDR3-1600 RAM | ANTEC 1000W True Power Quattro | Seagate 1.5TB + 1TB + 500GB 7200.11 HDD 32MB Cache | Windows 7 RC X64 | Logitech DiNova Cordless Keyboard | Logitech MX Revolution Cordless Mouse | Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speakers

Upgrade dam I mean that is a pretty kick ass machine you got there what you wanna upgrade for.

I'm just concerned about pricing, nVidias high end cards normally release at massively high price points. Our only hope is that they are releasing so long after the 5870 that they will have to compete in price to even remain competitive.

Yeah I was wondering the same Isengard. I have heard the Fermi can range from decent to really expensive. So lets see what prices these actually come out at. But hopefully no where near the price of the Tesla GPU's:D

Say hello to an R9 000 landed cost. It better be worth R2500 more than the 5970, else it's gonna struggle to sell...

i don't think Nvidia have it this time, they are pushing things that have no bearing on games, CUDA and all that stuff. yes it works and is all fancy and stuff but let's be honest here. for gamers and enthusiats it's frame rates that matter. not fancy marketing blurb. if the card costs R2500 more and only performs 2 fps better, it's setting up for a epic failure

No thanks. I know I gave the whole enthusiast speech the other day but I'm not paying R9000 for a graphics card. My issue is that I want to go with an SLi setup again (the bug has bitten hard it seem). So it will work out to R18,000. I don't think so.

And bottleneck like mad... :p

Exactly! I've given it some serious thought and I think, even at the moment, my 2 GTX280's are being seriously held back by my current CPU. So if I move to the new 6 core i7 with a decent motherboard and some epic RAM, I should get a moooHASSIVE boost in 3D performance as well.

I bought the GTX 295, as a wait and see card and anyway i think i would enjoy the fermi more, and i wana go SLi to and up my ram.

At that price point nVidia mite have to close their doors but i have to atleast get on of those cards before they do, and also SLi is definitely out of the question my id keep the GTX 295 as a phsyX card then

lmao a GTX295 as a physx card is sort-of overkill! lol

you made laugh... I know you right but there is no way i am going to geyt my money back might aswell use it for that purpose if i do aquire on of these new fermi card or GTX480 as it is now called.

Rumours suggest GTX480 beats the HD5870 by 5% on average. And costs twice as much...

Well if that's the case I'm going the Crossfire route :) But the bad thing is I love my PhysX capabilities too much. Nvidia really have me there. Fermi is only launching in a month from now anyways, so I guess we shouldn't make up our minds based on rumors. That would be stupid.
