Nvidia losing market share

Didnt they drop because their product is so much more expensive compared to ATI??? and yet ATI still manages to also push out a little bit more power from a gaming perspective :)

Yeah man, ATI has been doing very well the last year or two ago. And with Fermi coming out sometime things will be getting even more interesting. :)

Wow ok well I guess next GFX card I buy im switching to ATI  only problem is this... should Nvidia drop off the map (Which is unlikely) ATI becomes the dominating company in the gfx card industry and all that and therefore can rape us when it comes to pricing.... retail is funny like that

Too be expected. Without realeasing anything worth while since the 9800s, Nvidia seems to have stopped caring almost.

But in that retrospec, has there been any real reason to rush out a Dx11 card? Since DX9, DX has been really lacking in good reasons to get a GPU that is DX10 or 11 supported.

Have we seen any major jumps in graphics since 3 years ago? Not really. I blame consoles really, deving for them as made it less focused on the GPU power of things (and the PC then gets a port of that game).

This might be how the PC market is going, is GPU no long really being pushed as hard as it used to be because it's more profitable to create things that have to used in consoles (thus less GPU intense)?

Well the games do look better on the PC's, Mass Effect, Mirrors Edge, Burnout Paradise and Dead Space all looked better on PC then on console. Nvidia did release the GT200 series minus the 210,220 and 250s they were an update to the old G82 arch.

Nvidia may be losing market share but i think they've come0 to realize that the PC gaming market is almost saturated, ATi may have the latest and best GFX cards for gamers but overall in the professional sector Nvidia are leaders by far, look at AVATAR for instance, a brilliant CGI movie Done in collaboration with Nvidia......

Market share is one thing, but that has to be viewed in context with profitability. That said, a 6% drop in market share year on year is huge

There major difference is the pixel. A TV screen might be a lot bigger but the pixels are most the time not as good as a monitor. But i know for some games the consoles have out performed the pc graphics. Sadly forgot there names, and do not have int cap to look. But i still stand behind my pc rig.

Back to topic: Ati i must admit did shock not only me but many pc enthusiasts when there 4870 came out and out performed the best Nvidia card, but lets do not forget Nvidia came right back and out matched that card. Most Nvidia cards have done so until now. I do not know whats happening with Nvidia, but i have seen ATI bring out 1 good one then the rest bad for a little while( when i mean bad i mean hardly any performance difference) and then a good one a while later. I am really wanting to see Nvidia's reply to this new card. Personally i believe they waiting to reveal a ultimate card that will be hard to beat. But sadly the prices of Nvidia i feel are a bit out. Where for a a lot cheap get just as good card from ATI.

I think the numbers are distorted because Intel's Atom has an integrated graphics capability so it counts as a graphics processor.

Physx is great. But if there is a considerable premium on the 275 I'm not sure if it's worth it to you. That's all that matters.

Hmmm....I was expecting a more spectacular drop in market share when I clicked on this link.

I suspect that this setback is temporary and has to do with nVidia not having come up with anything new and exciting over the last 12 months.

That may change.

Atom processor or not, Intel's domination of the PC graphics market is hardly surprising.

Now if they only included 3D hardware worthy of the name in this report...

I am definately switching to ATI, had so much grief with the last 2 Nvidias. This is assuming I can get the cash togther for the new machine this year.

gonna have a good laff when ati tumbles off the mountain- the top is far....

..however since nvidia mushed away 3dfx, they must sometime pay the price for that.

I must admit nvidia has been shocked by ATI come back, like a i said in a previous post ATI has brought out one good card, then the follow ups not as good, then 1 good and then so on. So weather they will keep the market for these high end cards i do not know. But as you can see the nvidia sales are dropping, which i feel maybe because of the economy break down that people can not afford the expensive cards, or just ATI doing better. One thing most important about the lower end ATI cards is they have no Phycs capability like the 8800gt.

Other wise i am really happy to see ATI in this maybe its going to get the ball rolling, and hopefully lower the prices of nvidia cards.

I've still got/handed down a bunch of ATI's "top" cards, they are all still chugging away happily and in their eras could play any of the games I threw at them maxxed out.

9000 Pro
X1950XT
2900XT
4870X2
5870 <--- LAN PC
5970

I've been down this road. I was a nVidia supporter, then moved to ATi and then back to Nvidia...honestly guys...choosing a specific brand is only limiting yourself. I'll buy whatever brand offers me the best card....sometimes it's nVidia, sometimes it's ATi....doesn't really matter at the end of the day.
