Official Battlefield 4 Thread

Thanks for the tips, I was actually doing fairly well until last night.

Right now I'm busy reinstalling the game on my SSD, the levels take forever to load, hopefully that will help.

Tried that as well, no luck hey. Feeling like a real idiot by now. Never ever had a problem like this that I could not have fixed on my own in minutes.

What mode would you guys say is the best for noobs? Last night I tried TDM and got my ass kicked 1 - 12.

Then I joined a server where the two teams just sat around taking turns arming and disarming bombs without shooting at each other. That seemed like a really lame way to level up so I left.

Well you can try playing on the BmW servers for starters, most of their members suck and they ban anyone better then them for 'hacking'.It's basically a noob friendly server, just don't kill their leader too many times because he doesn't seem to like improving his skills (gi_patron is his ign)

I would suggest sticking with conquest maps because they are large and firefights with infantry usually happens over range. Also remember that just because there is an enemy tank on a point doesn't mean you should destroy it,maybe shoot a rocket into it's ass and then run to cover like hell.If you are lucky it will get disabled and he will either wait for it to return to normal operating conditions or he/his buddy will jump out to repair. If he is a lone driver and he jumps out to repair then you can kill him with a few well placed shots to the head and steal his tank (and kit if you aren't engineer)

Basically it works like this:

SQDM:Needs a high level of situational awareness and tactics,it's sniper heavy so lots of potential easy knife kills or annoying deaths.

TDM:depends how many players are on the server,if it's 32vs32 then you just need to stick to the group while healing, reviving, giving ammo and killing the enemy group. If you feel like going lone wolf you can flank around or wait for the enemy group to circle around (2 large TDM groups will usually all run on the outer edge of the map in a giant circle and will take pot shots at the enemy group or they will invade. If you wait and hide then you might be able to kill allot of them from behind when they circle around.

Most players will just lone wolf if there aren't many players on.

Rush:Very team oriented but it's usually a single player or a single dedicated squad that wins this game mode whether on attack or defense.

Conquest:Mostly regarded as a free for all, most clans like this game mode because they can roam the map around in tanks and keep eachother up and running thus usually ending up ontop of the scoreboard, the awareness of most players usually drop on conquest so it's a good idea to pick a stealth perk and go look for some snipers to stab.

Domination:Like Conquest but allot smaller,it's like TDM with flags and you can at least expects 2 guys to run with eachother.

Obliteration:Very team oriented, like rush except it's forced. The idea is to stick with the bomb carrier when your team has the bomb or to defend your points when the enemy team has the bomb.More often or not you only get a few squads actually trying to play the game mode while others are just roaming or sniping. The one shot one kill snipers are recommended for this game mode if you are going to be assassinating if you know where they spawn.

Did i miss any?

Firstly add me to your friend list Venom_sa
I think Domination and TDM are the best for leveling stick to the 20 player servers there's enough to kill and not so much that you cant orientate yourself and get shot at every turn.
Stay close to your squad (this is provided they are good , and not lone wolves ) It will give you time to adapt and as a squad those times when you have to reload wont be the times you get picked off cause they will have your back.
(sadly in BF4 I have yet to find a good squad and end up lone wolf ,which is not a good Idea)
Operation Locker is a really good map , Choose a good class Assault with a Medipack or Support with Ammo great ways to upgrade
and if you do this Youll get to the better weapons a lot quicker . As a new person don't focus on one weapon experiment
Its just a game ,overtime you will find a weapon that matches your style , I end up using the Carbines .

Hope that helps bud

Honnestly.

#1 Lockers 24/7
#2 Drop ammo, med packs, T-Ugs
#3 Level like crazy
#4 Profit?

How did you reinstall PunkBuster? I've heard that PB in most cases are causing these issues.

Finally! Got it to work. changed Chrome to my default web browser. In the address bar typed in "chrome://plugins" and ticked the following boxes to always allow:
*ESN Sonar API
*Native Client
*Battlelog Game Launcher

Very happy camper now!!

Thanks for your assistance!

I'll add you tonight, had one round yesterday only, on the map from the beta so I haven't seen any new maps yet.

Uninstall in Control Panel, deleting the installation directory afterwards, and installing again from the PB folder in Origin Games. Checked my firewall and all the necessary exceptions for PB has been added. I don't have a anti-virus installed, so that can not be a problem.

I don't have any funny software installed that can cause this mash-up. I know somebody uninstalled their Logitech gaming headphone software and his game launched. I checked my computer, and I've got nothing funny like that.

I'm gonna try a clean install tonight on my gaming machine. Just windows, drivers and Battlefield. Feels so unnecessary, but it is worth a try. Not feeling any excitement to this game anymore. Thanks for trying to help me!

There is a big improvement in performance upgrading to Win8, i upgrade from Win 7 to Win 8.1 and dont have any performance issues anymore.

Before you reinstall try the following:

Download PBSetup from here: http://www.evenbalance.com/?page=pbsetup.php
Install it, then update Battlefield 4, screw the one in the Origin folder
Turn off your Firewall complete, test again.

Could also be something related to your windows profile, so maybe create another User account for you Windows installation, then login with that account and try launching the game again.

Good stuff. FireCrap 26 :D

I will be playing at 17:00. Spot you okes online?

BRING IT, COME AT ME BRO!

Awesome come play on the metr- Locker server for a bit, enable a 200% XP boost and have fun!

In all honesty, I despise people that play for KDR (Kill Death Ratio), BF is more about PTFO (Play The F~king Objective) you will see people with negative KDR's yet they are in the top 5 players because they revive, drop ammo, spot targets, stick with their team and have situational awareness.

It is better to not engage in combat, if you are uncertain of the outcome, than rush blindly into it and come off second best because you got ambushed by piet and his 3 must be queers.

Some protips for you:
Support: Drop Ammo at choke points, Bipods are so useful drop it onto a floor or low wall just behind cover and you can fire (up to) 200 rounds with in a 60cm radius. XM25 Airburst is a beast for taking out snipers and people behind cover.

Recon: Being Recon does not mean you have to use a Marksman Rifle, equip a DRM or Carbine and be on the front lines, Use your T-UGS and Motion Sensor to spot enemies and keep tabs on their movement (MS has a 1 time use where the T-UGS is plated and can be picked up).

Assault: Drop Health and Revive not much else.

Engineer: Very useful in maps with Tanks and Choppers. Hop into a passenger seat of a chopper and keep repairing, you'll earn unlocks for that specific vehicle too, regardless if you are getting kills or not.

Support and Recon are probably the easiest classes to get points on, I have about 5 Service Stars on those two alone.

Weapons:

DMR:
Work through the first two, to unlock the SKS. It is a beast, with a 3.4X scope you can put 3 shots on someones head in 2 seconds and with almost zero recoil, your follow up shots and just as accurate.
Sniper Rifles: They are all about the same, find the one you like and use it.
Shotguns: QBS (Starter shotgun) is packs quite a punch being semi-auto, play with it till you unlock chokes and you'll be getting some nice kill streaks.
Assault Rifles:The AK-12m AUG-A3 and SAR-21 (Specially the SAR-21) are the best guns in game. IMHO. SAR-12 has insane accuracy and with a 600 RPM rate of fire it is super stable.
PDW: Have not played much with the PDW's unlocked the PDW-R and have not played any more with them, PP-2000 seems to be the most balanced of them all (so far).
LMG: U-100 MK5, Type88 and M249 are very stable for hip and aimed fire. Equipe a bipod and send down 200 hundred rounds into a doorway or choke point and watch the kills stack up.
Carbines: Almost all of them are extremely easy to use, minus the M4 and ACW-R

Grenades: V40 Mini. All the way. Lighter and has a smaller blast radius but it can be tossed almost 3 times the distance of the normal M67 Frag.

Some great points mentioned here, Glordit.

I prefer playing Assault with the AEK and running with a Support squadmate.

I've got the AEK controlled to almost zero recoil and at 900 RPM, it's deadly.
