No, Destiny is not getting paid raid loot drop consumables

Destiny has microtransactions but they won’t affect your chances of picking up raid loot.

Now that Destiny has cosmetic microtransaction items players are understandably a bit nervous about where this might lead; nobody wants to be constantly shelling out to stay on top of a game they paid full price for.

This anxiety has had consequences: when data miners found references to a bunch of previously unseen consumables, they assumed the worst. The community went crazy, protesting at the thought of paying real money to attract the benevolent attention of RNGesus.

Luckily, it’s all nonsense. “We’re not doing that,” community manager David “Deej” Dague wrote in the latest Bungie Weekly Update.

“The files in question were actually first uncovered some time ago, well before the launch of Eververse Trading Company. They weren’t ever intended to be sold in exchange for Silver.”

So what were these strange items? Prototypes for things that already have equivalents in-game, apparently.

“What you’re seeing are remnant files for Three of Coins or Moldering Shard-like items that would have been available from Xûr,” Dague said.

“Ultimately, the team decided that they didn’t have a place in the game, and cut them from the experience. You’re seeing some dust and echoes from the cutting room floor.”

Now we can all relax – until the next data mining scandal.

The raid as a whole is not that hard. The only really difficult parts are because of the mechanics. The deathsinger/relay part before the Warpriest is really stupid. The Golgoroth fight is seriously tough if you don't have a perfectly working strategy - the 1 ball weapons of light way seems to be the safest and easiest. Oryx's fight with all of the things going on, the jumper, the plates, the mines, the adss, the knight, the aura...etc. All of it is just too much for anyone trying it the first few times. I think it took our team 50 tries to get the mechanic down for Oryx.
