Official Elite Dangerous Thread

think it had something to do with backers or purchasing prior to game release.

Well then I want more decals! I feel like 1 skull is not enough. I want to customize my ship and put shitty sticker like Fox sports or Rockford Fosgate crap all over it. Why? Because then it really looks like my ship. Maybe someone can bump into my ship as well so I can put a sticker over the dent saying: Chuck Norris was here. FFS

almost got owned last night by 3 low level Eagles. I was not aware they were kitted with rail guns. And they knew how to use them.

Since 2.0 I've seen a lot more NPCs utilizing rail guns... and a wing of 3 eagles for instance can become a serious threat. But good job on not dying buddy!

There is a lot of posts here and I did not even get halfway - Please forgive me for asking:
So E: D is done, dusted and playable? Which package do you purchase and is it worth it?

I wouldn't say it is done. It has a 10 year development cycle. For now the foundation is complete.

The packages depend entirely on you and what you are willing to pay for.
The Horizons package is probably more worth it because it's the base game (Elite: Dangerous v1.5) plus the 2016 season's pass which include all the updates and new features that was and will be added in 2016 (Elite Dangerous: Horizons)

Currently Horizons include vehicular exploration of non-atmospheric planets on a scale of 1:1. Planets like Mercury is fully explorable in a SRV (Surface Recon Vehicle)

Thank you for that info axon1988 ! Appreciated.

Oh also, Elite Dangerous: Horizons is v2.0 if that means anything for you. I would also suggest you read what is planned for the 2016 roadmap to see if it's worth it for you. I would buy it hands down, I know that BeoTeK would probably also buy it without hesitating.

Not too sure about the rest of the guys. :P

It sounds immense and time consuming, but then again I like sims. There is also Star Citizen - so I am not too sure...

I will buy any further updates and expansions Frontier throw at it, I love the game. Star Citizen, not so much, at least in it's current state. I'm still thinking it's a year and half if not two years away from release.

Up to you in the end. I have not yet regretted my decision to get Elite over SC. Nothing wrong with SC and I'm not about to go into a debate about that game. My biggest reason for not getting it was the Hardware requirements.

Currently I have just over 700 hours in total in Elite, and there's still so much to do in the game for me. If you like sims, you'll like this. I would recommend you go on youtube and look at some videos from a couple of people who play Elite a lot. Here are a couple of links I would recommend:

Isinona is probably the best at advertising the game's atmosphere.

ObsidianAnt is the go-to guy for all round top notch videos and details about the game.

Kornelius Breidus is a guy I know personally, he is very good at Elite and tests out a lot of smaller parts of the game to help us out with how it would affect our gameplay.

Heed the word of Beo. If you're holding out for SC you'll be depriving yourself of enjoying ED for a good while still before it is out.

I agree that there's little chance that we see a release ready version of SC for at least another 18 months. I still have reservations about them getting the first installment of Squadron 42 out this year, as they've suggested they will. And that's coming from the local Star Citizen fanboy :)

Elite is a terrific game, and much like the project development plan that Star Citizen will follow, has many years of expansion, improvement, and evolution to go. The two games will happily co-exist. Eventually.

I would also love to believe this. I think we would have had a very different picture if SC came out at the same time as Elite... Potentially Elite would have sold a lot less copies.
Only time will tell how many people jump ship to SC once it releases. How many people stick with Elite. And how many people choose to play both.

Star Citizen looks amazing. Not that Elite isn't pretty either. Both should by right have their own place in this genre and should not compete at all. But somebody started the argument that x is better than y and now here we are.

Perhaps I will get it once it releases.

Some travels last night.
