Official Mygaming Alien Swarm Thread.

The first alienswarm was a mod for UT2004. Very popular, we still play it from time to time. Helluva fun :)

NOw that the new one is on the Source engine, and being on steam means it will get modded (hopefully) and be supported with lots of new maps and stuff. Really is a cracker of a game / mod.
 
When I followed the link in the OP alien swarm reminded me of the first top down shooter I ever played, postal.

Just checked out the video for this game and it looks great. Definitely downloading it later today.

Along with the game get the complete code base for Alien Swarm that features updates to the Source engine as well as the SDK. Alien Swarm adds 3rd person camera, depth of field, improved dynamic shadows and a wide variety of gameplay additions to the Source engine.

So I t was released 10:10 PM last night, weighing in at 2020mb.

Just ran a quick offline practice mode, and it looks superb.

Couple of things though.

No Lan.
No Lan.
Have to be logged into steam (online) for the MP, the only offline / SP mode is 1 training level.

But it looks so much better than the previous one, eventhough I just tried it for about 3 minutes.
 
Yeah also got it last night must say pretty cool. now just waiting for xerosix,murph and kiruna to download it and we can get a coop session going.
 
currently busy on the download...

could not start it last night, steams servers were overloaded.

about 50% done after starting at 6:30 this morning
