Official MyGaming Football Thread

I honestly don't understand the whole football thing. My GF is a Man U fanatic, visited Old Trafford and everything, yet I can't even stay awake up to the first half of the first half. If I do manage to stay awake long enough, I support Man City just so I can piss the GF and her family off.

Yeah... see... no. I'll watch world cup stuff, you know, patriotism and all. When SA doesn't make the cut then the gambling is always fun.

Speaking of... Any Favourites for the up and coming FIFA World Cup?

Hmm; I called Spain to win the prior Cup but I don't think they have the strength to carry through this time. I do think though that Brazil will be taking it this year.

It was agony to watch, that game. Well unless you're Liverpool supporter I guess.

I was torn watching it. On one hand I needed Arsenal to lose for Chelsea to be able to go 1st...on the other hand it meant seeing Suarez being happy :(

For the WC i think Brazil is the Favorites but spain will challange specially after messi's double again last night. And Hiro i feel your pain man our season is not turning out to well so far i hope we have a turn around because i see Moyes is looking for the killer instinct i just hope it's not from Rooney. I hope the mid week fixture sees united beat arsenal and not the other way around cos that draw didn't help us much against the bottom log team

I think I can now say that I know how my dad felt supporting MUFC in the 80's... I think all us MUFC supporters have been too spoilt by the last 20 years of success to a point where we have a sense of entitlement about winning games etc... could always be worse so there's always hope of a turnaround. I also see Moyes building his own team rather than just carrying on with what he was left...

As for the world cup, I would say Brazil are favourites at home, outside chance I would also say Uruguay... Suarez & Cavani are both in good form and they will be comfortable in those conditions.

....But Messi is Argentinian

Im really liking the Belgian team for the WC, think they will be a surprise, their team looks awesome on paper.

On another note, what a weekend this was for Chelsea.

Arsenal and United fans must be in a bad place

Belgium has a great team for the WC. At least Quarter Finals I think.

And yes sir what a weekend it was! :D

The reason I'm asking is because my mates and I are putting all the qualifying team names in a hat and then paying an agreed amount per team (not yet decided). So it's like a lucky draw and the winning ticket/team takes home the money. So basically I wanted to know if I've drawn a dud team or not.

I guess the best way forward would be for you to tell us who you drew so then we can give you our opinions etc.?

Well we haven't done the draw yet. I'm trying to prep my powers of will so I can draw a decent team.

Group A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, Cameroon
Group B: Spain, Netherlands, Chile, Australia
Group C: Colombia, Greece, Côte d’Ivoire, Japan
Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy
Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, Honduras
Group F: Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran, Nigeria
Group G: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, USA
Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, Korea Republic

That's the draw, I would say getting any of the teams listed 1st in their group gives you a good shout and remember in cup football anything can happen (Greece 04, South Korea 02 etc.)

While you talk amongst yourselves about the world cup I would just like to hang my head in shame...being a Man U supporter has finally lost its appeal...They are playing poor football lately...I think Sir Alex Ferguson is ashamed of them at the moment..

Also now Mata is in the team..wth would he want to come to united at the moment..lol

The funny thing is, if Chelsea win the Premier League, Mata will still get a winners medal as he has played more than 10 games for them this season.

Yeah I suppose that's true, but I still don't get why he would want to transfer to them when Chelsea is on top of the world right now and Man U are pretty much playing like apes lol

The main reason I assume is playing time, with the World Cup in the summer, he has to play to get into the Spain side, i was really upset that he left Chelsea, but a player like Mata has to play, even if its at United.

To be honest, if this wasnt world cup year, i dont think he would have left.
