The R9 290X is performance comparable to the GeForce GTX TITAN at 2560x1600 (1600p) and lower (1080p.) In every game we played we were able to match the same gameplay experience as the GeForce GTX TITAN. That means that every game played the same between both video cards, the same performance, same in-game settings, and same smoothness. Performance in terms of frames per second was either right under, or right at TITAN FPS performance. The performance differences were so insignificant that those did not translate to any noticeable gameplay differences at all.

The situation changes when the Radeon R9 290X is pushed up to Ultra HD 4K display resolutions. Whatever magic AMD is doing at 4K, it is working. We found that the Radeon R9 290X was faster in every game compared to the GeForce GTX TITAN at 3840x2160. It wasn't just a little bit faster either, it was anywhere from 10-23% faster. This is a significant difference. At 4K resolutions, you need every bit of performance you can get to achieve playable performance at high in-game settings on a single video card. The Radeon R9 290X is clearly the card for Ultra HD 4K.

Similarly, AMD’s Radeon R9 290X isn’t the most expensive or luxurious graphics card out there. It leans on an old cooling solution that we’d like to see improved, and it’s wrapped in a plastic shroud. There are a few things we think AMD could be doing better, and we’ll get into those. But when it comes to gaming performance, this card has little trouble trouncing its primary competition, GeForce GTX 780, and even Nvidia’s GeForce GTX Titan in a number of cases—both of which are substantially more expensive boards.

All the reviews are there, go read them and be amazed.
At the price its unbelievable..AMD have done something Nvidia can't do.

Those definitely are unbelievable scores for the R9 290X.

Now let's see what our suppliers can push and what kind of pricing we'll be seeing. I hate CCC though

CCC has changed a lot and if you read the reviews a lot of the reviewers are very happy about it now.
Its unbelievable card for that money, Nvidia can't respond to that, even if the 780ti is faster it won't cost anything near that price.

Yeah AMD just knocked one out of the park with that price/performance.

The R9 499 R9 290X on Evetech is too high for me though.

Lol you can rock 1600p 120Hz Lightboost haha.

That is just ridiculous.

Yip it is truly insane :D

On a side note, the world records are tumbling already

Some perspective

41531 marks with 4x Radeon R9 290X at 1435/1650MHz
39629 marks with 4x GeForce GTX Titan at 1486/1774MHz

Oh yes that's right.

Pity cos I'd love to see what he can do with these cards.

I already know that R9 290X will take all the crowns, in fact by tonight there won't be 1 number one spot that doesn't say AMD R9 290X
Its actually crazy what these cards can do, and for what they cost...$450 less than a Titan, $150 less than a 780.

The real value of Hawaii will only be exposed once third-party coolers get slapped on and someone puts on faster memory. But that price is incredible.
