There's a GIF for that
Sounds like it, I'm intrigued.
Could someone more knowledgeable elaborate?
It's probably going to take a week to download the damn thing. I don't even bother with updating it anymore.

I'm purely intrigued to see what all the hype is about, as I am completely uninterested in the game. I just want some sort of sense of what it is and how it feels. Might be nice to test it out, and maybe compare. What would the download size be?

Lucky for me I stay with a friend who has a 10Mb line. Download took me two nights![]()
Just wait for them to release another 40GB patch, they've done it several times now...
I'm not even going to bother. I'll wait for release one day to decide if I'll get this or not. Still having fun with ED and it actually has more appeal to me (personally).
EDIT: a 33.1GB patch has been released...
Maybe you're Citizen #220 ,000 or lower? coz there is nothing for me.
Still maintain that unless you're serious about doing some bug testing, downloading SC now is going to be a frustrating waste of your time and a waste of tons of bandwidth.
Public players are still only able to access Alpha 1.3. The invites that are being sent out are for Alpha 2.0, but only for use in the Persistent Test Universe (the PTU). They are presently pushing out version 2.0.0H - i.e. the 8th patch for the 2.0 test build - and that's in a little over a week since 2.0A was released. Patching is still not fully incremental - 30+GB downloads are common. You'll get close to completing a download of v.H and have the whole thing restart because they've release v. I in the meantime.
Part of the reason that folk (like diabolus) are having little joy outside of the PTU testers in 2.0 is that they are seeing Star Citizen 1.3 which has had no development updates for quite a while now as all the work has been going into 2.0
I still endorse the "patience my young padawan" approach - give it a few more weeks for a stable public release of 2.0 to be made, then get those downloads rolling.
I downloaded the game over several days last week, but haven't played yet. Just checked, there is not patch for me either.
Did you install the game using the new launcher? Or do you still launch using the old one?
Yep, have to agree with this. Stay away from Star Citizen unless you expect a very bumpy very buggy experience.
I don't think the old launcher is working anymore.
Ah oky. Strange then that it wants you to basically redownload the game. I downloaded it to have a look at it again, haven't played/tried it since the initial release of the Arena Commander module.
However I won't play it for hours on end in its current state, I will wait for full release. Will probably play S42 first and then get into Star Citizen.
That's how Star Citizen patches... This is probably the 3rd of 4th time that I've had to download upwards of 30GB. It's completely ridiculous. I think the most reasonable explanation for this patch is that I now have access to the PTU test which the rest of you don't necessarily have yet.
My understanding was that the new launcher would fix that issue, where an update required basically a complete game re-download. With the new launcher it would only download the required files.
Also I have access to the PTU, but I haven't moved my account over to it. So maybe it is that?
