24.4GB Patch :(
Yip. Thank goodness for Vox fatpipe rollover data :) (At least for me, YMMV.)

The thing that bugs me the most about the SC updater is how it completely takes over my entire connection - everything else simply grinds to a halt. The displeasure expressed by a teenage daughter to this situation means the SC download will have to wait and be attempted overnight.

Yeah, that is incredibly annoying. I've now tried to limit mine to 400 - 800KBps, just so I can at least browse as well.

Much excite! I'll kick off my download overnight as well. I also have a crap load of Vox data available so 24GB it won't even pinch me.

I used NetLimiter years ago at work, was updating something and it tried killing the internet, with this I just set the limit a specific program can download at. Worked great.

Anyone managed to spend any time 2.4 yet? Any thoughts? (Haven't myself, hopefully over the weekend.)

In the meantime, new fan-made video in 4K for your enjoyment:

Nice to see LevelCap (well, technically his brother and editor Zim) putting up a SC video. In it he covers the biggest changes in Alpha Patch 2.4, and looks forward to some of the other big things on the Star Citizen horizon too. Includes fantastic WIP visuals of the Caterpillar ship interiors and the Pupil to Planet video which shows off the procedural generation for planets and transitions from surface to space.

I only had a short session in 2.4 once. Will have a look at getting back in sometime this week.
it's getting so good now, I love the LiveWorks AR.

Any Starfarer captains looking for crew? I have the Freelancer if you want to do quests but it would be nice to play with a bigger group. Just to earn some credit.

BTW - What you think of the DragonFly? Would fit perfectly in my Freelancer :D

I bought the DragonFly and joined a space motorcycle group LOL
Lol. Must be honest, I got me space bike (a "spike"?) too. Looks like a lot of fun will be had buzzing around on them.

The Know video and the TOS change thing has been a touch over hyped, in my opinion. The existing one was valid till end May, so new one was needed anyway. The changes to the refund policy are more updates and consolidation of existing terms, as opposed to new terms.

Besides, why is getting a refund for money you out into a crowd-funded / Kickstarter type project even a thing? Isn't the inherent financial risk of pledging money to a project in advance to allow it to be made something that people should be mature and financially responsible enough to make themselves?

Don't tell me you'll help finance my creating something, give me money to build it, and then come back, when I'm halfway through, and tell me you want your money back. It ain't gonna happen, I've spent it already. And besides, it's a pretty shitty thing to do, because it may well contribute to the project failing for everyone else still involved in it. A bit of a Catch-22.

Is Patch 2.4.1 having frame rate issues? My GTX 1080 is getting around 30fps @ 1080p. Same fps on any res. Not sure if it is my drivers or the patch but it happened after updating the game.

Oh yay, another 24GB patch incoming.
Mine was just over 11GB to go from 2.4.0 to 2.4.1 - some minor improvements in performance, but nothing brilliant. Still getting stuck on the Launcher and need to run from the StarCitizen.exe directly.

Definitely not your card or drivers. It's directly related to ongoing netcode issues they're having. It's alright if you're alone in the PTU or if you play anything solo (wander around your hangar, play solo free flight or solo vanduul swarm to test this.) But, in the PTU or multiplayer Arena Commander, as more players and NPCs join your instance frame rates drop to 20fps or even worse.

From the SC reddit:
Trust me, it's a point of concern for just about all of us who are out there testing. My 980Ti gets 90fps in AC, 18fps in the PU :(
