Old Laptop

Took out the laptops power supply now suddenly only showing 73 degrees on GPU instead of 93-105 c so made a big difference :p.

80-90 while gaming on high performance so must have been the PSU heating everything inside.

Do you really need to game on the go? If not, I would suggest this : Get a R10000 ( or bit more) desktop. Seriously, in gaming, it will run circles around your laptop. And then buy a nice capable, snappy laptop with the rest of the money.

From what I've heard, gaming laptops always heat up quite a bit and their performance is nowhere near a gaming desktop.

Its not just for gaming its also for CAD and GIS which I want to do in 3d eventually for work.

I do 3D Architecture for a living, And i used my Dell XPS for a good 3 years without a single problem... They do get hot, especially when rendering (you should know what this is) but nothing to worry about... Piece of advice, when getting your new laptop, get the fastest processor you can afford... This is the main contribution to render times, but if you not going to be rendering then it wont effect you.

With the size of the orthophotos we use I think I will need a fast processor for them otherwise it will take forever to load.

When I was using the old linux GIS server it would take forever to load I had to disable them to do the work.
