So I took the 4 ram sticks out of my old (very old) backup computer, put them back, and it never booted again.
I've since tried each stick individually in each of the 4 slots, but to no avail. I think I fried the motherboard somehow?
Luckily I have a spare motherboard and ram, but it's AMD and the previous one was Intel with a Pentium D processor- so now I have to look at getting a new AMD cpu to fit into it.
My question being: what cpu should I be looking at that is about the equivalent of a Pentium D? I'm looking to spend a minimum here as I don't use the computer for anything other than storage. I need to get a cpu at least equal to the PD, but no idea which, and where to look for one.
Budget say R 500?
