On-disc DLC is "just plain greed" says Pachter

Nah, greed is not the word I would use.

They are just worried about the bottomline - prices of video games are down in real terms, competition is up, and development costs are higher than ever. They need to make money somewhere, because they barely make anything on the game itself.

IMO if the On Disc DLC is locked behind an Online Pass or something similar to encourage people to buy new thats fine. But On Disc DLC that you need to buy is greedy.

Yeah, I fully agree with this. The whole nonsense with the Street Fighter X Tekken DLC is the main reason why I haven't picked up the game yet.

This is the first i've heard of it, I didn't even know Dragon's Dogma has something similar but I guess its still optional, nothing is forcing me to buy the dlc, for all I care it can sit on there un-used. Most of this On Disc DLC is mostly useless crap anyways.

Well in the case of Street Fighter X Tekken the on disc DLC is actually 12 characters which are locked. The DLC will only be available to purchase once the Vita version of the game releases in September.

Yeah that if fucking stupid. Good thing I have no interest in that game.

As far as I am concerned, if it's finished before release it should be part of the game. From the beginning people were worried companies would remove content from their game to sell as DLC later, and on disc DLC just vindicates their fears. Like Omega, I don't mind new purchase incentives but don't charge me extra for content that I should have gotten in the first place.
