If a new study is to be believed, the old stereotype of gamers being unattractive, unhealthy, and socially inept may soon be put to rest. According to a study done by BigPoint, they have revealed their statistics that reveals the modern age gamer is attractive, socially strong, healthy, and popular with the opposite sex. Quite different from the cliché society has painted.

The Bigpoint Gamer Survey presents a completely new image of online gamers: attractive, healthy, cultured and popular with the opposite sex. Gamers are sociable individuals, both online and offline. 62% of the surveyed players said they have more friends in real life. And the percentages increase with age: 55% of players under 20 have more real friends than online friends and 73% of gamers over the age of 50 have more real-life friendships. A total of 28% of the people met most of their friends online but have since gotten to know them in real life. Only a tenth of all gamers said that their only real friends were online gamers. Gamers also like to socialize in their free time. More than half of them – 52% in fact – meet up with their friends regularly each month. A third (34%) even sees their friends on a daily basis, though most of these tend to be younger players.

I need to hook me up some grant money so that I can do a statistical analysis of how many useless studies are conducted. :rolleyes:
 
I think the stereotypes that were drawn up about gamers originally by those idiots of society should have been shot!! I have been told that I dont look like an IT person or a gamer and I always have this argument with people who still believe that gamers are supposed to look like fat kids, with no social life, they live under their parents house and look like ugly people when they crawl out into the light... Thats complete and utter BS!!!

I think saying "popular with the opposite sex" is simply more succinct than saying "the guy is popular with the girls and the girl is popular with the guys".
