Online specials: Steam, Greenman Gaming, GamersGate, etc

I should have posted this earlier...

The StarCraft 2 Battle Chest is going for R327 at RARU. Tomorrow, 27th September will be last day of the special. It includes both original StarCraft II and the Heart of Swarm expansion set. Also includes the Beginners Guide.
I ordered this, late to the game, but I suppose better late than never.

Just spotted Plague Inc. on the Windows Store for R11.50. Not the feature rich Plague Inc. Evolved version that you can pick up on Steam for R159.00, but a pretty solid version nonetheless. And for under R12, you can't really go wrong.

P.S. Can someone confirm if that link works? Whenever I click it, it automatically launches the Store App so I've never actually seen it on the Store website.

Link works. Loads both the webpage and opens the MS Store app at the same time.

So I see AC: Black Flag is going for R60 on the Xbox store at the moment, and since it might very well be the next MyGame, I'm thinking of getting it since it is a mighty nice price. One thing I want to know is, does it play well/easily on console for someone that isn't used to playing FPS on console (or any game that requires a lot of aiming with the joystick, like Tomb Raider)?

I'd say it's probably better on controller. It's full on 3rd person and doesn't require a lot of aiming as such

I'm mainly a PC gamer and I got Black Flag on PS4 when my PC gave me performance problems years ago. I can't say how well it will play on Xbox, but for action platformers like the Assassin's Creed series I've actually started using controllers. You get used to it pretty quickly, and now I actually prefer it.

If you don't want to get used to it, maybe just wait a bit? There are bound to be sales on Uplay soon. Alternatively you can pick it up for like R80 for PC from Takealot or Raru.

I've also got it on XBox One. The Assassin's Creed games play much better with controllers than without. Especially on the XBone controller. Plus you don't have to make use of Uplay which a bonus.

Also if you give it time you'll get much better with the controller. You just need one game that you play for quite a bit and it will change everything.

I sucked with controllers until I played Halo. I was so bad in the beginning but I persevered. Now a couple of years later and I prefer playing with a controller than with a mouse and keyboard. Something I never thought I would say.

AC Syndicate is really the pick of the AC games. I found Black Flag boring and Unity was okayish. My ACS is actually rather good. Well worth the R200 odd bucks on XBONE.

sorry, not "boring". Thats not the right word. I meant to say "catatonically, coma-inducingly, mind-numbingly, soul-crushingly BLAND"
