Online specials: Steam, Greenman Gaming, GamersGate, etc

I am more and more enticed to buy stuff on Steam than on PS+ (PS3). I am seriously considering going for a PC rather than a PS4 as it provides great value regarding Steam, Steam OS, cheaper games and the ability to do more on the PC like record and edit YouTube clips, do graphics, etc.

Steam is great also as indie games get loads of exposure on it and I love indie!

Does blizzard ever have sales? Games like Diable 2 are still selling for about R150-

Not online, but if you go to brick and mortar shops you can sometime pick up great deals. I remember getting the Diablo and Warcraft series in a Battle chest for about R80 each in Game.

steam is fantastic and you don't have to pay every month to keep your games. The only downside is that the PC versions often have more bugs than the console versions and there is the whole delayed release schedule thing. But you're right, there is a bunch of cool things you can do on a pc that you cant on a console.
If you're interested in graphics and editing and gaming you could even play around with a game engine like unity and create a little something yourself.

They do have sales, but it's almost always cheaper to just buy the their stuff locally.

This is why I haven't bought a blizzard game since warcraft 2. I will check out some of the local stores, but I really don't like hard copies- I don't even think my dvd player works any more.

Once you activated the key on Battle.net you can throw the DVD away, and download it anyway.

All you need is the key that comes in that box, you can then simply "register" it on Battle.net and download the installer. I did exactly that with mine and have no clue where the physical disks or box are.

they save A LOT of time though

If you can do the above, that is great- or install it from the disk and then play it on steam, but I hate not being able to launch a game because the disk isn't in the drive, and then I have to search through my draws to find it.

that's rarely the case these days

Just shows you when last I bought a disk :D
hahaha! I only found out recently as well when I got SC: Blacklist

nowadays disks are basically just data carriers. you put them in, you install them game, you activate the game on steam/uplay/origin, never use the disk again.
