Online specials: Steam, Greenman Gaming, GamersGate, etc

sheeesh, I sort of feel sorry for Alan Wake, must be the game with the most sales in history. Good that it gets much notice, but sort of negatively. On sale again at indie gala.

And it's such an awesome game. I played it on the XBox 360 a couple of years ago and enjoyed it a lot. I really hope that they are busy working on another Alan Wake game and that they are using all the sales to build hype.

Steam midweek madness features Saints Row IV @ 66% off ($13.59) and a bunch of Lego titles (including Marvel Super Heroes) @ 75% off ($4.99 per game).

Edit: I see everything else Saints Row is 80% off.

Nope, they aren't. Sadly they say, sort of between the lines, that no publisher wants to take the risk for a 2nd game, since the 1st one wasnt the epic success they were hoping for.

They are working on an awesome game though, called Quantum Break, looks awesome.

The mechanics for Alan Wake were too broken, I couldn't get through it unfortunately. Was a cool story though.

None of the new games do- it sucks man. My pc is probably too old for some of the newer games anyway.
The saints row engine has always been very forgiving. I ran The Third on my 2.4 dual core with a 8600GTS

Just a heads up, Red Orchestra 2 will be free for 24 hours later today or tomorrow (not sure).

Thanks for the heads up.

By navigating to http://store.steampowered.com/app/35450/ and downloading the game tomorrow after the promotion starts and before it ends (the promotion will last 24 hours), the game will be free to keep forever!

Am I understanding this correctly- not only will you have to claim it, but download it to your hard drive within 24 hours?

Dunno, I'm sure if you just start the download during that time it will be fine.

My understanding (so don't exactly take it as golden) is that once you "buy" the game, if its in your library then its yours. To me they're just saying for 24 hours the game is going to cost $0 at the steam store.

This is how it worked in the past with games like Left 4 Dead 2.

For what its worth: I seem to have it in my account simply after clicking on the "Play now" button of the store. It gave me a "Thank you for your purchase" type screen.

Seems it is permanent as there is no way I can download the 25GB odd for the MP game in 24 hours.
