Onlive launch date announced

I would use it if we had super fast free internet :D.

It won't be viable to use in South Africa until we get local servers. Even if the majority of us could meet the 5mb line requirement for HD, the distance and resulting latency between us and the OnLive servers would be too high. Remember, the game client runs on their machines, so it would be 300-500ms before you even see a response onscreen to your input. eg. Move mouse, 500ms delay, screen moves.

If it does manage to take off and become a success, I fear we in SA may really feel the pains of exclusivity to a platform we won't have access to for a decade.

Even if we had fast enough and more importantly STABLE connections, could this ever be better than running the game/application locally? I mean people complain about input lag between the controller/mouse and your console/PC, what will the lag be like with this?

2 big plusses for this type of gaming:

- piracy will be taken care of
- your hardware will never need to be upgraded to play the latest title

it gets negative from here on in...
