Opinion : Wireless vs Landline

Wireless is a bit underrated, really.

I've a line fault in my house, and can't get ADSL working here, so I've been on iBurst for three years or so. I have higher pings than fixed line users, obviously, but at around 75-90ms locally, it's not really an issue at issue. Anything up to 300ms is, despite what anyone might want to tell you to the contrary, quite okay for gaming.

Of course, reception strength is a significant factor, though. I live in an excellent reception area for iBurst (there's a base station a few blocks away).

I couldn't agree more about wireless being underrated. I have been using iBurst since the beginning of the year, first on my PC and now on my PS3 and I'm yet to experience any problems. Everybody always tells me how crap iBurst is for gaming, but I honestly don't know what they are on about. I have played anyting form CoD: WAW, LOTR Online, WOW and a lot of other games on PC, and I've played Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, PURE and whatever other multiplayer games I get my hands on on PS3 with no problems whatsoever. The only game that has ever lagged a lot is Team Fortress 2 on the PS3, but as far as I'm aware that's a problem with the PS3 version of the Orange Box and not my connection.

I know reception plays a big role, but I always have 100 % signal strengh as I live between 100 - 200 meters away from a base station.

I'll always push for a fixed line, specifically with cod, dunno how people play when they have more than 50 ping :/

But thats what we have been saying Iburst and all that are ok for some MMO's but when it comes to the crunch DSL wins over everything because its more secure and you dont have to worry about signal related issues...

i have hsdpa. but only cause exchange is full and i cant get DSL.
im busy playin eve online and no issues whatsoever :)
