Opinions - The excuse

I've seen an increasing trend, not only on this forum, but also on a few others including iGame recently. Please note this is not aimed at anyone specific, nor are the opinions raised in this post <--- yup you read that right, representative of iGame or any other instituion I am affiliated with.

People make statements, more often than not based on either being misinformed or being ignorant.

When called on it, the poster will more often than not fall back on the
"I have the right to an opinion" excuse.
People, please .......

To clarify, yes, everyone is allowed an opinion, but that opinion doesn't make you look like any less of an idiot
Let that sink in for a bit ......

Sitting behind a keyboard and typing utter nonsense, simply for the sake of wanting to sound smart doesn't mean that you are smart, surely this isn't such a hard concept to undersand is it?
Also, having an opinion on a topic, and not actually knowing anything about that specific topic, doesn't make your opinion valid.

The same thing can be said for insulting other people or making derogatory comments about a specific topic, institution or project, this only demonstrates that you have no skills when it comes to conflict or problem resolution.
If however you ARE well informed, and not by your own standards, feel free to post away, but please don't use the same excuse as the illiterate masses, really, it sounds pathetic to say the least when someone in the middle of a forum flame which they started or gave rise to says "I have the right to an opinion" in the hopes of validating the utter BS they posted.
This is like adding blood to a tank full of sharks at the aquarium, it leads to senseless drivel being posted and the complete derail of any topic.
Why? you might be wondering
The ones that are well informed, if only by their own standards then use EXACTLY the same methodology to rip apart your post, only to use the same excuse you used when confronted.
So instead of backing down, when shown up by another user, who may well know what they are talking about, why not take the opportunity to learn , while sipping on a giant cup of STFU ?

This is a public service announcement brought to you by the Xero Tolerance Foundation

Heh, you know, I make a point of never, ever resorting to the "WELL THAT'S MY OPINION" excuse, unless I'm being facetious. If you have to say it, you're probably doing something wrong.

NEWSFLASH: Opinions aren't free passes to instant credibility. And yes, as a person who writes reviews, I know my opinions aren't free passes to instant credibility either.

oppinions are like assholes, everybody has one...

but yes. some folks hide behind it as an excuse way too much...
