Have any of you guys had this scenario ?
I have this screencard : http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/AMD_Series/EAH6970_DCII2DI4S2GD5/
On the asus p8z68-v pro gen3 motherboard

Windows boots fine , until I install Origin to play battlefield 3.

After I reboot the pc , windows logo starts showing , and then it hangs.

I reboot into safe mode , uninstall Origin , and bobs your uncle , im back booting into windows.

Is this a driver issue or is Origin a badly coded EA stepchild ?

Im installing the latest catalyst driver (version 12.3)
ASUS p8z68-v pro gen3 motherboard
ASUS HD 6970 screencard

Mmm nice setup.

This is gonna sound really retarded xD but the time and date on you're machine is correct right?
Not a lot of people know this but Origin will not install properly/gives issues if the time and date on you're pc is not correct.
Where do you live mate? If its close to me I'll bring one of my rigs along and we can test you're card on my machine and you can test one of mine, will help source the problem.

Im in Brakpan :D

Thanks for the offer ..

I have 2 screencards , that I wanted to run in crossfire , but its overheating , i opened another post about that aswell .

When Origin is installed , it wont boot , not with both or either one of the cards installed.

Tried all I could think of ..

I even reinstalled windows twice , fresh install , and every time , like clock work , when I install origin and reboot , the pc hangs at the windows boot logo.

Im pretty sure the time is correct but I will do a Atomic Clock Sync tonight to make sure , thanks for the suggestion.
Do you think if the time is out , windows wont boot after origin is installed ?
Worth a shot , willing to try anything.

No clue but could be the problem.
I'll think about it a bit today and think of what could be causing it.
You say you have done clean installs ect...So that's a solution that didn't work..
Something weird is at play there lol

What I would suggest, Install windows, install drivers, install origin. Don't restart you're pc after the origin install.
Then try running origin.

Edit: Also reason the cards are overheating...space between them is not sufficient.
You need to either fit them with aftermarket coolers or get a bigger board.

Have you tried booting into safe mode?

I have similar specs to your PC and don't have issues with Origin hanging my Windows.

Yep ,
im asking about water cooling in the other post :)
any recommendation ?

Neah for the price of watercooling xD you might as well just sell you're current board and get a maximus extreme z.
Will chat to you a little later, gotta go see suppliers before they close xD

I fitted a Arctic accelero II to my 6970. Keeps it nice and cool and really quiet, not sure if it would fit as it makes the card a bit thicker.
