Sup guys,

So I saw that EA is giving away Dragon Age Origins on Origin this week, now I already own it and all the DLC on PSN but I wanna get the PC version as well. But last I heard Origin was like evil incarnate, key-logging and scanning your PC? Was it all legit concern or is it pretty much like Steam (Policy wise)?

Policy wise it's much better than Steam. Functionality wise, maybe not so much, but it's getting better.

Its a lot better than it was when it came out. So far I have had no problems. Steam also had its teething phase.

Sweet! I have no probs with Steam so I'll download Origin then :)

I needed an Origin account for Battlefield so I already have one, I just need to download the app. Thanks man :D

Wait you have not have the thing now know where your games are? Also even if you have the files this fking thing wants to download it all again and again and again.

For now it just can just sit in my I don't give a fuck about these games till they sort out that kak!

Lol No I haven't had that problem. Backed up bf 3 and bf4 without issues.

I like having one manager, but I guess I can deal with origin because they have some great bargains and it hasn't ever given me any problems. It's not the best store for browsing though. There aren't even any game screenshots ffs.

I haven't experienced this at all. I always download on the office pc and then transfer the games over.
I have experienced that with steam though, where I copy a 10GB file over and it deletes it and tries to re-download the entire thing again. So frustrating.

Origin still needs about another 5 years of development before it will be decent. I'm still having a ton of issues with it quite regularly.

Eugene: In what way is their policy better than Steam's?

Do you also install everthing on your C drive?

Origin has a money back guarantee. With Steam you practically had to beg them to cancel a pre-order.

Origin also has way better customer support, from what I've heard, though I've never tried either myself.

Edit: You can find some interesting opinions here.

No. I have windows installed on C and my games on my E drive. It's the same drive just a different partition, but I keep all my origin games in the same place- E:\program files\Origin games.
I have heard that other people have had problems in the past, but either they've sorted it out, or I've been lucky so far. Just downloaded 65GB of games though, so I will soon put it to the test.

About the steam downloads, I recently discovered that if you add the acf files as well as the steam game data, steam automatically installs the game for you. You don't even have to click anything, which is fantastic for re-installing your entire library.

Origin for me sucks in managing my games or re-installing a PC vs Steam where I just run the Steam.exe on my game drive to get it all back

Origin has way better customer support than, just a shame that they mostly (Well only) have EA games.

Steam was once from the devil and they grew up, and I am sure Origin will do the same.

I honestly don't mind Origin. The client app is a lot lighter and faster than Steam and it does what it's supposed to - launch EA games. I don't have that many Origin games compared to my Steam library though...

The thing is I might have 10 ea games but I have 200 steam games so its understandible that steam will be a bit heavier.

Can't say I can complain about steam support since in 24 hours I got my responses.

Origin's money back guarantee isn't always enabled. I've bought games from it where the client clearly states that I won't be able to get a refund even though they advertise the money back guarantee. Last time I heard people weren't happy at all dealing with customer service or asking for refunds when it came to simcity.
