Original PS3 Console and that damn fan!

Hi guys/gals,

My PS3 (80GB version NON-slimline) works like a charm, but no matter how hard or LITTLE it works, after a few minutes of it being switched on the fan comes on full blast and makes one helluva racket. What's the fan like on your PS3 console? My console stands vertically and is on the top of my TV unit. So it gets massive airflow and is not restricted at all. When the fan comes on it cool to-the-touch, so I cannot find any reason why the flippen fan keeps coming on no matter what it's doing.
 
Nope. No single game. I simply switch on my console, 10 mins later on comes the fan and it doesn't shutup until I power off the console itself. I've googled this and a LOT of people complain about the same thing. At least I'm not alone :)
