Hi guys

I am building a new gaming rig in a week or so depending when the money comes in and am on sort of a budget I opted for the i5 3570k and the msi Z77A-G43. Long story short I want to get the most out of the 3570k on my mobo thinking about 4-4.3 GHz or more. Can anyone guide me on how to safely and efficiently overclock my cpu bare in my this will be the first time I am overclocking. These are the rest of my specs:

4GB transcend jet Ram 1600Mhz
Sapphire HD7770, 1GB 128bit super overclocked 1150Mhz
Cooler Master K380
Thermaltake LitePower, 650w
Deepcool IceEdge 300, aluminum base + 3x heatpipes push pull fan config
Western Digital Caviar Green 1tb
LG DVD burner

Is the Deepcool IceEdge 300 good enough for this sort of overcloock
any help will be much appreciated.

Only way to know is to test system under load before overclocking, while monitoring temperature. If it copes with standard clock speed, you can try overclocking in small increments while still monitoring temps....best of luck. I have seen i5 3570k stable at 4.4GHz but with liquid cooling.

Its all about trial and error increase it in small bits like stated above and then once you reach the point where its overheating you know the limit :)
Cpu cooler's help allot I myself overclock and have one well worth the money if you're going to overclock to speeds

I will be getting a Antec Kuhler H2O 620 in a month just don't have the cash right now. The thing that has been bothering me is should I use msi oc genie or over clock in BIOS and if so how do I do it. I have read online in other forums that program orientated overclocking(AMD overdrive and msi oc genie) is not as reliable as overclocking in the BIOS. Is this true

Ok why would you want to OC that cpu...its already overkill for the 7770. But to answer your question , use intel extreme tuning facility. Leave the reference clock at 100 mhz (dont fuck around with it) , and set the multipliers on each core to whatever you want (if base clock is 100 , set the multipliers to 40 for 4 ghz, or 35 to 3.5 ghz). Also keep your cpu voltage below 1.3 v . Dont OC it to 4 ghz immediately, take it by 0.2 ghz at a time , then run prime 95 or any similar program to check for system stability , and also check the temps with RealTemp (should never exceed 70 degrees when under load [not full load] ) . But take my advice, dont OC it.

Because if it blow's you're going to have to buy a new one + It's already a powerful CPU, only joy you'll get out of Over clocking is better Benchmark Results on Hyper Pi or 3Dmark. Also why 4Gb's of RAM? 8GB's is so cheap

Exactly, you will reduce its lifetime, plus the gpu : cpu scaling is wayyy out of proportion. Rather buy a 3470 and a HD 7850 + extra 4 gb RAM (its really like R300 more).

I did notice that I am waiting for my school report my dad compensates me according to my marks I am going with 8gb ram and gpu is not yet decide can any one recommend something to go with 3570k. Willing to spend R2200-2900.

Nr 1 do aht Joker Suggests.

and 2ndly .. dont over clock? Your cpu is fine on base clock to run everything, Get a bigger GPU. That is your problem atm.

Why will it break lol. Overclock it my man. nothing wrong with that even 100MHz is worth it
