Overstike to Fuse: A Journey to Generic?

Ok so at an E3 not so long ago EA and Insomniac revealed a new IP they were working on called Overstrike. When I saw it I got pretty excited since it reminded me a lot of Ratchet and Clank with TONS of humour and personality (and colour). But now they've just come out again and announced they have changed Overstrike into Fuse and completely redone the art style and overall feel of the game. Fuse is brown, grey, gritty and generic as all fk. Why do companies do this?

If the color pallet didn't do it for you the epic sound track in the Fuse trailer surely should!!?
I have never seen a more generic, bland, and boring shooter in the last 5 years.

I would rather shell out money for Duke Nukem Forever, and thats saying something.

EA fail again?
Hard to tell really, EA are publishing the game but only through the partners program and don't own the IP or the developers. This could be all Insomniac's doing or it could have been influenced by EA, can't be sure.

I like to believe developers don't aspire to creating bland, grey scale copies of previous titles, especially after throwing so much work into such a bright world.
