Patent Troll claims ownership of podcasts

What bullshit. This patent is blatantly too broad to have been even considered.. "An apparatus" implies the software or computer used to split the media, creating ambiguity, and podcasts rarely get split, they are recorded independently. Thanks to the use of the word "media", these fucktards can also claim infringements by episodic web series (The guild, Childrens Hospital, etc.) and episodic gaming (Monkey Island, Walking Dead, and the granddaddy, HALF-LIFE!)I guess I'm extra pissed off at patent trolls since the developer of X-Plane, a great flight sim, is being sued by patent trolls for the software libraries he and loads of other game dev used on android to couple with the Google Play store. These trolls are scum.

If you wait this long to express an attack of your patent then you don't deserve the patent. The idea behind a patent is to allow the inventor time to build his market and prevent unfair market dilution.
You can't allow a market to grow without your input and then claim ownership 3 years later, you deserve to be screwed over. Look after your rights from day 1, not when it starts making money and now when you want a cut with out any effort.

That's actually a reasonably quick turnaround time, patents can take more like 5-7 years, depending on the complexity of the patent applied for. This is mostly due to the massive amount of applications received, thanks to trolls like these. Patent trolling has, unfortunately, been going on for decades, the internet age just opened up the ambiguity that was trimmed out very carefully before. Software patents, specifically, are bullshit. Others can be useful and are normally beneficial for the person that actually invented the product.
