PC hardware you shouldn't buy this Christmas

HDD prices is definitely a challenge atm and of course as luck would have it I'm running out of space. Hope prices start dropping sooner rather than later.
 
Yeah the hard drive shortage is quite a pain at the moment, clients bitching about the price increase!

GTX560 mid range? Thought it would be in the "high end" class.

Lol im still using my trusty 8800GT for the nowaday gaming :D upgraded needed i know!
 
mmm good read, and I'm actually looking to finally go i Series from my current e6420(who has been serving me so epically(eventhough its such a old ass CPU) up untill NFS The Run(for the first time ever) made it cry)with a i5 2400 or something. Looks like I'll have to put it off for a while.
 
HDD prices are defnitely crazy at the momment. I see no reason waiting for at least 4 months until prices goes back down to normal. When it comes to the Sandy Bridge. The current line of processors are already good enough for even the best games. No point in waiting there except if you would like to wait for the Ivy bridge just so that the Sandy bridge prices goes down. Screen cards are always a waste. Never again will I pay R5200 for a screencard which will be near useless in less than a year

Would be nice if the article included other gadgets and electronic things though.
 
I agree that you should wait to buy a HDD because current prices are frankly insane but as others have pointed out, if you wait to buy the newest, best, shiniest gear you will never buy anything. The nature of PC kit is that there will always be something better around the corner. I've always followed the philosophy of buying the best you can afford and doing thorough research before you buy and it works for me

They still are the best bang-per-buck performance chipsets. Also, most P67/Z68 motherboards out now will support the IvyBridge because the Ivybridge will be staying on the same socket type (Gigabyte already have a BIOS update out for most of their Mobo's to enable 22nm IvyBridge and PCI-E 3.0 standards)

So if you want to buy a SandyBridge now it's ok since IvyBridge is not quite yet ready and when it does launch you can simply plug it directly in to your existing 1155 socket mobo :)
