Howdy all

So, I'm looking at buying some PC speakers for my boet for xmas, and the budget is R150 - R200

So far, I've come up with DIVOOM Atom-357 (2.1) at Esquire, that'll cost around R200
http://shop.esquire.co.za/ProductDescription.aspx?id=645933

and Krator Neso2 N2-20U03 (2.0) ones that are going for R157 at Zaps
http://www.zapsonline.com/0-ch-spea...nclosure-20-channel-speakers-frsp-k20u03.html

I don't really know the brands or all that much about what's good in a pc speaker. Anyone got any idea which is the better buy, or other suggestions?

Thanks

Out of those two I would take the Divoom's. I think they look better, and at a glance the power output is better.
Personal favorite speaker set for me is the Logitech brand, so if you can save a little extra I think the LS series is the better purchase.

Thanks simon. I also like the Divooms because they are 2.1 and the others are just 2.0. The little sub makes a difference. I just don't know whether it's a good brand or not.

I also like Logitech's, and I was looking at Rectron and Corex for some, but they don't seem to stock them any more. The R200 budget is the problem. We're doing a secret santa thing, and everyone agreed on a budget, so going overboard will make people feel bad.

Well its up to you. What I would do anyway is pretend the price was R200 odd. Say you found somewhere really cheap that was having a sale, or you swapped it for something.
I have been eyeing out a set of Divooms for myself actually and thinking of giving my speakers to my gf for her new laptop.
But for me I want to go 5.1
They seem cheap and good quality, I suppose they are still trying to get to a point where they can charge Logitech prices lol

If it helps I bought my gf a set of Divooms, also a 2.1 speaker set. And bang for buck it's fantastic, it's got a nice clean sound to it.

IMHO you won't go wrong with them.

The Divooms are known for having a lot of bass xD Sound quality isn't bad either. A mate of mine owns a set of the Divoom 5.1 and he is really happy with them. I haven't heard horror stories either and most people seem happy with it, and the logitech Ls series is pretty good, but they offer no real bass.

What set of Divooms would you recommend for me, looking 5.1 without breaking the bank, lol hence the reason why I am not going Logitech lol

The Krators are way higher quality build, but yes the divooms offer better bass for that price. If I were you I would maybe just wait a little, save up a bit more and buy something at around R400.00

Otherwise go for the divooms.

My brother has those Divoom speakers and they are not bad imo. My Logitech X-230's do sound a lot better though and has more defined bass (deeper and clearer), but at 200 bucks you really can't go wrong with those.

My X-230's would beg to differ. On 30% bass volume my floor starts to shake if the volume is high, this is why I never crank the bass volume to full, it's too loud. :)

Um I know mate..I was talking about the LS series Logitech...not the X series.
Read my post again xD lol

The LS 2.1 are going for R249 at Chaos Computers here in Cape Town, so that should be a rough pricing on how much they would cost up there.

I went into Computer Mania over the weekend and was advised that the Creative A520's were a pretty good purchase over the Divoom 5.1 set. So for R649 is that a good purchase or anything else worth considering?

I am thinking of buying myself a 5.1 set and then giving my current Kasaku 2.1 to my gf.

The best is to have a listen ur self, go to the guys, set it out and listen, then make a descision, I like Divoom its a great set and i own one myself, but not everyones taste is the same...i like chees burgers with diet coke...do u?

Yeah probably will if I could, don't know if they will allow that though.
It will be used for gaming and movies, not music so that is going to make it a lil tricky as they won't test it with a game.

I know it's outside of your price range but the Logitech X510/X530s are awesome. Maybe look at the smaller versions of those two, and you might be able to find some in your price range.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I went and got the Divooms on Friday. Sounds like they are decent enough, and it's for my little brother, and he doesn't like things too loud, so I didn't need anything over the top, just decent.

I would suggest the Divoom system. I bought one due to budget limitations and I don't regret buying the system. The sound is clear and loud from such a small system

I'd way rather go for logitech myself for pc speakers quality is better but i use my sony ddw5500 home theatre sound quality is brilliant but is a bit pricey
