PC Stolen, need help replacing it

Is that going to be enough ram to run windows 7 (and all my fav. online games)?

lol... Yep. I use 2GBs - haven't bought more because I plan to get a rig similar to the one I suggested to you, in a few months, which supports DDR3 RAM, so haven't really been able to convince myself to fork out money for another 2GBs.

You will notice longer load times in games that use large amounts of memory at high settings like (off the top of my head) GTA IV, EverQuest II and Dawn of War II, but other than those three, I haven't noticed an impact.

So yes, 2GBs of RAM will be enough, and as I said, you can always add more later :)

The Super Talent brand is the cheapest I was able to find. If you are willing to fork out a bit more, I'd rather suggest you grab: Corsair XMS3 DHX Technology Memory - DDR3-1333MHz - 2GB Kit (2 x 1GB) for R696 since it's just a more "known" brand. But the way I see it, it'll perform the same, it'll work the same and should you experience problems, there's a warranty, so it won't really make a difference. And, again, you can always wait until later to replace or upgrade the RAM as you see fit :p

I like. But, my immediate concerns are bolded.

The PSU. Firstly, assuming that this site is correct, idle usage of the HD4890 is 214W and load is 334W. Secondly, assuming that this site is correct, idle usage of the i5 750 is 142W and load is 218W. At idle, that's a combined wattage of 356W and at load that's already 552W, which leaves a meagre 68W for RAM, optical drives, board and hard drives. Also, I can't remember exactly, but I believe PSUs degrade at a rate of 10% or so of their total capacity per year? Something like that, at least.

650W is already cutting it close as is, which is why a 750W would be preferred, but going lower than 650... I wouldn't advise that at all :p

The hard drive... 160GB? That's waaaaaay too small!!! The price difference between a 160GB Seagate (R401) and a 500GB Seagate (R475) is a paltry R74. It's just not worth it to settle for less.

Otherwise, I like that setup a lot :p

Agreed get the 500GB. As for the PSU's...the Vantec ones are pretty solid. That PSU will be fine. A good 550W will be sufficient nevermind a 650W. 750W is pure overkill TBH.

I was thinking of that but also trying to keep his budget in mind...
Its hard to build a decent setup with a monitor that nice for 10k

Hehe, thanks for the all the input. If this was Star Wars, I'd have to call you all masters ..

Well the insurance companys outsourced IT cannot match most of these prices, whether AMD or Intel, so I have had to go with a Quad core on an Intel board, kept the HD 4890 and got a Samsung 2333SW+. All this x 3 systems nogal. One would have thought that spending 30k would give me some discount!
