Peripheral Preferences

As a gamer, I'm sure many of us prefer to have our gaming gear as comfortable, convenient and cool-looking as possible; whether they cost barely anything, a small fortune or leave us bankrupt - we want those particular items for a reason: The best (physical) gaming experience (we can afford).

Also a good way of seeing how we as gamers differ in our opinions regarding our day-to-day gaming gear use.
This is not limited to gaming gear, general use is also a factor.

With all that said, what is your preferred setup?

Keyboard:
(Multimedia keys are a convenience)

1. Easy and quick access
2. Slim keys (although mechanical would be nice at this point)

Mouse:
(One size does not fit all)

1. A comfortable shape (necessary for long hours with minimal strain)
2. Side (thumb) buttons; at least 1, 2 preferably (especially helpful online)
3. Large friction-less feet; smooth movement is imperative
4. Cable not braided; I become annoyed when the cable is too stiff and it takes some doing for it to just sit neatly, unencumbered.

Mouse pad:
(Free range mice only)

1. A wide surface area is always a welcome addition
2. Smooth surface, hard plastic. Cloth is too controlling (too much friction between surface of mouse pad and feet of mouse)
On my current mouse pad, I blow the mouse (pause) and it moves on the mouse pad.
3. Thickness of mouse pad no more than 2mm if I can help it.

Controller:
(Wireless = freedom of movement)

1. Xbox 360 controller fits my hands so well. I prefer it over the PS3 controller (P.S PS4 controller may change my opinion)
2. Cordless connectivity: I like sitting or standing however (nearly wherever I want without having too worry about a cord getting in the way - except when charging).
3. Needless to say; high-capacity batteries are nice; the greater the capacity, the better.

Headphones:
(Sheer listening pleasure)

1. Most importantly, wearer's comfortability. I like round cup shapes as they do a good job of covering your ears irrespective of their shape. Have not yet used square or rectangular. My Sennheiser is a rectangular shape, but, the side are positioned close to my ears causing strain after a while. My Speedlink headphones are round in shape: while they don't offer the same tension, they're a more comfortable fit albeit without movable cups.
2. In-line volume control; perfect for when you're sitting relaxed and do not wish to lean forward to a keyboard, or other less convenient means of simple volume lowering (if need be).
3. Good bass response: while this is very much a "get what you pay for" scenario, I will admit to always wanting a great bass response, without the speaker rattling - that ruins the immersion - afaic.
4. Single-corded cable: Don't like having 2 cords coming from the headphones, this means that you have to take off the headphones over your head if you want to remove them or place them down. Single-corded allows you to easily slip it off to one side. IMO.

Speakers:
(Turn the room into a movie theater/cinema)

1. Great sound production
2. Bass response without rattle
3. Volume button
4. Mic in

If an item is not listed, feel free to add them.

Keyboard
I also like slim keys, like the ones on my laptop. I've never tried a mechanical keyboard though. Do you get mechanical keyboards with slim keys? That would be ideal. Maybe in a bit of a natural shape like those old Microsoft Natural keyboards. I don't care for backlights and I'd like the keyboard to be black. Extra media keys would be a bonus.
