Phishing emails

Has anybody lately been receiving an ever-increasing spate of phishing emails claiming that you need to recoup your internet accounts through a link?

I've received at least 6 in the last week alone :wtf:.

Anyone else it been happening to?

I'm safe but I also have a 3rd gmail account I use for suspect sites etc and googles filters work pretty well.

As we speak I was just awarded R500 000 by some very enterprising gentlemen from Standard Bank [A bank I'm not with]; all I need do is send through all my funds into this account to claim the money :D

Ya, I got a notice I won R350,000,00 (note the commas) from RICA today as a Class 0 message. Not an SMS, a service message...

Man you're lucky. All I got from my RICA entry was R 10.000.00.

And I hear now that one of my buddies has just had his Capitec account revoked unless he changes his password on their website "[email protected]" within 24-hours

The scary thing is that people actually and unfortunately do fall for this.

Indeed, unfortunately it's usually also the people that are the worse of.

My grandpa has an old Hindi couple as neighbors, they had their money stolen when criminals dressed up as police in a police car pulled them over to check for 'fake' notes.A few weeks later his wife fell down some stairs and he took her to a hospital, when they came back to the parking lot their car had been stolen so he had to call my grandpa to give them a ride back home.

I've lost count of all the lotto/sweepstakes/etc winnings I haven't claimed, and lately I've been getting all sorts of spam about beating casino games

My fav is this:

We suspect someone could be using your account without your knowledge, we have limited your account for your protection against fraudulent activities.
Your account could also be limited because of regulatory requirements. For example, requesting certain products, like a debit card, can trigger federal and state laws, and we may limit your account while we work together to satisfy those requirements

Click below to verify your identity and fix the limitations, Please fill in all correct details as same with ones registered in and with your internet banking profile:

At one stage I always used to click on the links on those emails and then enter fake login credentials... Just to see how authentic the site looks and where it goes. They started off pretty bad with fonts mismatching, empty picture boxes, spelling errors... but later on they got pretty good. Exact replicas of the online banking sites.

You guys all lose. I've got Pres Barack Obama and the Nigerian president themselves wanting to send me 2.5 million dollars. I was told this by the director of the FBI.

And I know it's legit because he sent it from his personal hotmail address :p

Man! You are the luckiest man on the forum bro. Any chance you can point me to the Nigerian prince who helped you out?

Don't worry. He'll find you.

I haven't had a scam email in a long time (about a week) but I've been getting emails about loans and motivational seminars by the dozen each day.
