I need a phone with space, good camera and something that won't explode preferred. I was looking for waterproof as well but it seems like there aren't many that are... Please help me choose? I have no idea what to go with.

In all honesty there only a few options to go for in my opinion... iPhone 7 (which is now waterproof) Samsung S7 (or curve if u like that, also waterproof ish...), Sony XZ, I have the Z5 and love these phones (and properly waterproof)

These would be my 3 picks...

Hi

Have you given any though to, and evaluated the pros and cons of keeping your Galaxy S5, thus saving yourself some money? [assuming it has a replaceable battery, that is] I was all gung-ho for my upgrade [due from the 11th], but after considering things such as the monthly cost, how I use the smartphone itself as well as the bundled services, [I use mostly data-mostly WiFi, so I shall be saving on mobile data [43Mb so far this month] Thanks to Telegram and Whatsapp, I don't send SMSes, and I hardly ever have any cause to make calls, I end up paying for services that don't fit my usage patterns]
My Lumia 630 still does what I need it to do, and I prefer Windows Phone to Android [my previous smartphone ran Android], so it makes sense, in my case, not to take the upgrade.

About storage capacity: why not buy as large an sd card as you can afford?

My perspective- I may be far from the typical smartphone user.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7! Definitely! It will blow your mind! Really it is such a hot phone at the moment!
The price might burn a hole in your pocket, but so worth it!

I hace the Xperia X, there is also the XA which I think Wlad has which is the equivalent to the Z5 mini.

Is it really necessary to also go over the top expensive? What are the real advantages of getting a R12k plus phone over something much less expensive? I mean do you really use the type of apps that would require the latest and greatest hardware specs? Xiaomi's new phones are really well specced and extremely well priced. Also consider the Huawei range of phones as well. I don't know, I haven't seen anything on a cellphone that made me really want the latest and greatest phone. It's not really necessary. You can get a much cheaper model, save on the device cost and get a bigger contract. I tend to remind people to not just look at the latest and greatest and get lost in it's allure. There are other alternatives

Never in my life will I ever trust Huawei or ZTE. I have found that on numerous Huawei devices that they send encrypted information back to Chinese IP addresses. This is with their phones, routers, etc etc

No option to turn this off. No option to opt out. No indication of what it's sending. I'm not comfortable suggesting these devices until I'm sure of what they collect and send back.

If you can afford it and find one, HTC.

They are expensive, but build quality if some of the best I have experienced, partnered with performance, screen and camera quality.

I ended up going with the Sony xperia xz, the 64gb version.
A lot of phones have actually been discontinued, I ended up going for the waterproof, space a aplenty phone ( is also R100 cheaper than what I'm currently paying for my s5)

Every single HTC I have owned (I have owned two) sucked. The HTC One (M8)

It's not that the phone itself is bad - I can make and receive calls, which is fair enough - but every other element (data usage, connectivity, battery life, backup operation and effectiveness, relevance of online support to what is available on the phone, ability to transfer between other devices, performance of camera vs. "paper" specs, even durability of all but the superb Aluminium chassis - really, everything) is so far short of anything experienced on other phones
