Piracy and the reporting thereof

So Ive been thinking about busting this dude who distributes pirated games quite openly... I think I heard something about a reward for doing this (like a really big one R100 000 i think). I cant seem to find the organisation that was offering this.
Cos why would i bust him if i dont get a reward or something for doing it?
Anyway if anyone knows what organisation this is please tell me.
I think i read about it in Nov's PC format...

Yes you will get a reward ,but its based on the size of the content recovered, the amount of distribution ,what licences are infringed
lets put it this way if a game or other media doesnt have a official distributor it isnt illegal to make copys that being said ,the other side comes in to play when do you get your money ,only when a law has been broken and thats civil ,not criminal law so it will only be once the case is tried and a conviction has been attained .

rest assured unless he is selling hundreds of thousands of copys your not going to get 100 000 more likely something proportional to the bust .

Im sure the add said up to 100 000 and then some fine print.

Um, because selling pirated software is really scummy, and busting him is the right thing to do?
 
Not everyone is morally bankrupt, Raven Gold. I'd report a person like that without a second thought, and I don't give a toss about rewards.
 
+1 to Azi's statement. If u want to report piracy do it coz its the right thing to do, not coz u see it as a quick way to make money.
 
LOL, You must have read the add wrong they only give you money if it is on a corporate scale like if a company is using copied software, etc. They only reward you for that because they can sue the company and recover costs, what will they get for busting some punk selling games... Idjit!
 
Azi and omega your such hippocrates. I dont endorse pirating but if your telling me you never pirated a game in your life your lying
 
ReGret, I realize this may deter you from 'doing the right thing', but I seriously doubt you'd see a penny for reporting this pirate.

However, since you're so interested in self-enrichment and -preservation, perhaps consider that letting such a pirate continue in his evil ways is ultimately just driving up game prices for you in the long run, not to mention making the country unsafe for you as piracy perpetuates other types of crime.
