Remember when an image of what appeared to be Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance 2 flashed on screen at the 2015 Taipei Game Show? As it turns out, it wasn’t a hint or an announcement or even a tease. It was, in fact, just some artwork to celebrate the second anniversary of the game’s release.

In a blog post titled Second Anniversary Illustrations, Platinum Games showed off the official artwork the company had created to celebrate the event, which somehow found its way onto a Sony live-stream back in January.

The image, which shows Raiden next to a ‘2’ in the game’s font-style, comes with a caption that reads “Congratulations on the second anniversary. After two-years, I wonder what Raiden is up to now?”

You can read all about the Taipei Game Show image which confused fans the world over, here.

For those yet to play it, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is an action-oriented Metal Gear spin-off which thrusts cyber-ninja Raiden into the limelight. In our review of Revengeance, which scored 8.5, we said “Few action games are as fast, rewarding, and exciting as the insane and imperfect Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.”

I enjoyed the first game; however I had niggling doubts throughout the experience. Primarily because the game felt like there needed to be more conviction in direction. Also felt like the game lacked polish at times.

I was hoping that a sequel would emerge that would allow the game to capitalise on it's strengths and improve on a pretty good idea.

Sure Platinum, sure...

Just like how The Phantom Pain wasn't a Metal Gear Solid game, and was being made by Moby Dick studios, the creative director being Mr. Joakim. Definitely not Mr. Kojima, nope, not at all. :D

Kojima is the master of trolling. I mean this is the same guy who, when the fans asked him for TPP release date, sends them a picture of Snake in a chicken hat. They're definitely working on Rising 2, hopefully it's in FOX Engine this time.

Actually that's a good point. Taking news about an MGS game at face value is a little bit naïve

Would be awesome if they release another one, MGR is the only Metal Gear game (except MGS1) that I actually liked. It was a bit on the short side, but it was super fun.
