Playdead's INSIDE

I finished this game last night and there is a lot of things I could say about it but most of all I am still reeling from the final segment of the game - I was honestly not prepared for what I found "inside" and I still don't really know what to make of it.

If you've played this game you'll know what I mean - if you haven't yet played it I'd really encourage you to do so (especially for those who got it in the Humble monthly).

The game is hauntingly beautiful - it has some of the best lighting effects I have ever seen in a game. Every scene is a work of art; from the water particles, to the shadows, the minimal but effective audio.

The puzzles are clever, the gameplay gets very tense at times and despite it's short playtime it is perfectly paced.

Ultimately I feel the reviewer from Destructoid summed the game up perfectly:
“The parallel to Limbo feels necessary when talking to people who haven’t yet played Inside; after finishing it, it feels wholly unnecessary. Inside stands on its own merits as a superbly captivating and moving experience, one that’s bound to be on your mind in the time you spend away from it. Someone once told me that the games you can’t stop thinking about when you’re not playing them are the truly great ones. I’m inclined to agree. Inside fits that mold even though we’ve seen others of its ilk before.”

For those who've played it...
Spoiler: show
Did you also get super creeped out by the underwater girl?

Don't know why but I never really got into Limbo. It was an interesting game, but I kinda lost interest in it quickly. How close to Limbo is this, and is it a game I should consider picking up and trying despite my indifference to Limbo?

It depends on what aspect of Limbo caused you to lose interest - INSIDE's world is certainly more intriguing and mysterious so there is definitely a greater pull to keep moving forwards. The gameplay is similar but there is more variation in this one - you climb, sneak, swim and some other things too.

I finished the game in around 3 and half hours - so it certainly doesn't overstay its welcome.

Oh cool, how big is the download?

It was the best game I played from 2016! Was not sure what to make of it and went in blind. Came out gobsmacked! I got freaked out, creeped out and totally amazed! Excellent game!

I played and finished it last week Thursday evening.

It's one of the weirder games I've played. I wish there were more! The animation and polish in this game are outstanding. As is the atmosphere. Actually the game is done exceptionally well. It's just a bit on the short side.
