Playfire Rewards Thread

nope :( and i have the same problem with Tomb Raider.

Don't you hate it when that happens! I wonder if there is a way to play offline, and then, when playfire comes around, you go back and gain the achievements you need.

Damn, I already have most of the Amalur points. Just checking, but they don't take that into account by any chance and still give you the credits, right?

I feel your pain, even worse.... I got all 4 of them this weekend before the reward came out :(

Uhh, technically you CAN do that...in a way. I admit to once or twice having a games save file from when i...uh..."tested" the game before buying it on steam. Then what i did was copy save over to steam and bam, bunch of achievements and further progress in game :) allowing me to either get needed achieves for rewards or get closer to getting them. I don't feel its cheating since its MY save, i was just playing it "offline" at the time :D

I have also gotten alot of my Rush Bro's achievements while i was offline (Afrihost was giving problems...much like they are right now), and when i went online again and opened game, bam, got all the achieves at once. No issues.

We've been doing a lot of analysis lately into the Playfire Rewards BETA and we're really happy to say it's been going down a treat. Having said that, as a business, we need to make a few tweaks to which games get rewards and how much. As many of you know, we offer rewards against games that aren't available on GMG as we think it's a great way of getting you guys to try new games and introduce you to the world of Green Man Gaming.

That said, from today you're going to see us tinkering with values of those rewards and the number of rewards that are available, especially if it's a really cheap game. Generally speaking, there will be less rewards to earn on games we don't sell. Conversely though, you may see more rewards on games that are available on GMG, and more opportunities to earn cool rewards thanks to the close relationships we have with publishers and developers. Which brings me on to where we want to take the Playfire Rewards BETA next...

Giving GMG Credit as a reward was only ever step one. While we tinker with the values we still want to offer you variety. This is why our next step will be integrating the ability for you to earn codes as well as credit - whether they're for GMG or our partners - via the Playfire Rewards BETA. We've already got some great opportunities lined up (currently hush-hush!) that we think you're going to love. The possibilities this will create are endless, imagine for example playing one game and unlocking something special from the same publisher … or getting great discounts on merchandise for that game … or exclusive access to betas. We’re not there yet, but you can see the world of possibilities!

While the notion of us experimenting with reward values during a BETA won't come as a surprise, we know many of you are interested in other developments. Our mission over the last few months has been to increase the performance of Steam tracking. It'd be an understatement to say that it's been a technically challenging task that's taken our best minds to solve. While, like me, you'd think it shouldn't be too hard, there's some real black box wizardry going on to track what's quickly become over 220,000+ global accounts every day - not a bad size for a BETA! We've got some great ideas to improve this for you and support the thousands of people that join every week. One of the important code updates was deployed just before the weekend and hopefully you've noticed that it has resulted in everyone's accounts updating more often - several times a day in the best cases. We'll be monitoring this closely over the next few weeks

There are a tonne of other features that we're working on too. A dynamic rewards page so you don't have to visit the blog every day. A rewards feed for developers, which this week we've started sharing with members of the community who have been developing their own apps and tools - you guys build some really cool stuff. And now we also have the ability to resolve complex account linking issues - so get in touch with Customer Support if that's still an issue for you.

That's a very condensed version of where we're currently at with the BETA and while a 'Letters from the Engine Room' might be a better platform to talk about what else is going on, we thought it was important to tell you about some of the changes going on at Playfire HQ. As always your thoughts and feedback has been really helpful. We'll try and answer as many of your questions in the comments below.

Prepare yourselves for 0.01 rewards :p I can understand why they need to do this, I'm actually surprised it took them this long in the first place.

Their community manager is actually quite active on Neogaf. He made some comments there:

Obviously listening to you guys well help us focus it to meet your needs and to be more interesting. We'll still do credit, but we think the combination of the two has more potential. For example, if you play a game to completion, then you might be more interested in free or discounted DLC as a reward. Or if you've got or played all the games in one series, you might be really interested in getting early access to the next game. We want to keep the reward relevant, not dull 'you played a game, have some discount on something you never had any interest in and isn't related'.

Truth is, time will tell. We're all gamers at heart in the GMG/Playfire office, so we want to make this more exciting with lots of variety, rather than boring like some of the other loyalty programs out there.

In theory, it sounds interesting, but weather it'll work in practice still needs to be seen.

Ok I'm necroing my own thread, hope this is fair...but I just wanna query something.

My rewards have been slowly creeping up over the last hour or so, and its now sitting at $90. GMG has also slowly creeped up by a few cents, but that might just be actual reward. Under the details in month area of the reward, it doesn't show anything other than the few rewards I've gotten this month.

Anyone else experiencing this bug? If it goes into my GMG account should I buy something (looking at you, Arkham Knight) ASAP?

I've given up on playfire. It was cool in that I earned $6 really quickly, but it made me plough through my games too quickly, and I started playing for money instead of for enjoyment. Then as soon as I achieved the rewards, I would switch to the next game.

hehe. Well its MEANT to be around $45 :D
Saving up for Arkham Knight

So I'm hoping I've won some kind of $50 Playfire/GMG raffle and its not just a temporary bug :(

The most I've ever had is what it is at now: $3.81. I usually use it on the hot deal games when it gets to around $2.49. I only started using it recently and I don't really specifically play games to get the rewards. If something I'm playing just happens to have active rewards then it's awesome, if not, I'm not bothered.

The only reason I have that amount at the moment is because I'm currently playing through Dead Rising 3 and it has rewards active until this Friday (I'm still not actively trying to get the rewards, I'm just enjoying the game while I'm happening to be getting Playfire rewards).

There's nothing wrong with that at all, since either way, every now and then you're still getting some small chance for nothing more than enjoying games you play :)

Mine seems to have bounced back to exactly $45, so half of what it was at most, and roughly what I should have if up-to-date...no word yet from playfire, but I'll sadly put it down to a bug :(

Yeah, it's awesome. I've bought (essentially got for free) three games that I otherwise would never have gotten. One of them was Necrovison, which I actually really enjoyed. I check GMG about 2 or 3 times a week and if one of the really cheap games interest me and I have credit from the rewards I buy it without a second thought. :D

Hey guys. Some of you might have seen that Nosgoth is £1.05 to play for the first time, the same amount that the veteran pack is. Even though the game store says its not available in your region, I was just able to download and install it :)

Heres how: A while back I ran a script that "activates" all free 2 play games into your steam account (dont worry it doesn't flood your library, just "buys" it at store) which at the time increased your game count and also then your steam xp - has been patched/fixed since then. Nosgoth was one of those games.

heres how to do it: go here and click the "install" button. that'll launch your steam and start installing Nosgoth :D
Once done (mine timed out a few times with install, just keep trying) run the game :D

Enjoy the +-$1.60 on GMG :D

I do need to confirm the reward first though, will do so as soon as its picked up :)

I got the Nosgoth Veteran Pack with GMG credit, but I didn't need to do anything to make it work. I just activated my key in steam in started downloading. Once it was done downloading I just started the game and it went in without any issues.

Yeah if you get a key thats fine. Without a key though, Steam tells you the game is not available in your region (when you go to store).

I can also confirm that my method does in fact work. I was just awarded £1.05 for playing Nosgoth for the first time :D
