Playing Crysis 2? Thoughts?

Well, I didn't play the first one, but picked up "2" over the weekend.

So far pretty decent despite some isolated AI problems.

Only real drawback is that every time you cloak or activate armor there's the voice saying so. "Cloak Engaged" or "Maximum Armor". After an hour or so of playing it gets really annoying....

What do you think?

Doesn't bother me a single bit :D I like the voice, ha ha. The game would be stupid without it. I also love the sound the suit makes when you're running :D.

Anyhow, the AI is a bit weird sometimes, but for the most part, it's a really fun game. It was definitely worth my money, especially for the fact that the MP was a huge surprise for me. I never thought it would be this good. It will definitely become quite popular as the gameplay is really fun, engaging and competitive. R300 for this? No problem! I can clearly see that the guys who made this game put a lot of effort in this time around and they can be proud of what they made. Well done guys, awesome game!

I really enjoyed all the previous Crysis games so I would say I am biased. I do miss the more open play of the first Crysis (in the jungle etc), but with this being set in the city I guess the full 'sandbox' is restricted. For some weird reason I get a very Prototype feeling when playing the game but that is probably more due to the similar storyline - but I'm only just over an hour into the SP campaign so that my change. Overall I'm enjoying it.

The MP is great fun, but as always we need lots of folk playing to make it worthwhile.

I started playing it this weekend. For the most part I am enjoying it. That being said I am actually a little let down, I mean Crysis 1's stages were massive, and the rendering engine was fantastic. I feel that Crysis 2 has become more of a corridor shooter, and the stages feel much much smaller. I was hoping to "explore" more of a destroyed new york.

I just feel that although you get "tactical options" on the way you want to engage the enemy, it gets really repetetive.

Remember PC folks, this is a game that was limited to it being a console developed game. It will never have the same beauty that the first Crysis did or even have improved, because todays consoles can't handle it. I'm criticising consoles, merely pointing out the truths.

That being said, one of mates who was heavily set against it, caved and bought it. He says he is actually quite impressed, so maybe there is hope. As for it becoming a popular MP, on PC anyways, I don't see it happening. Yeah it will have a few followers, but it will never come close to the COD and BF numbers for MP.

So far I'm absolutely loving this game. I haven't played much MP since I'm totally hooked on the SP.

It's not as open or as much of a sandbox as the original Crysis, but IMHO it's a more focused game now because of it. The amount of excitement and cool factor that oozes from this game is astounding and I haven't enjoyed a FPS like this in a very long time.

Then there's the brilliant graphics, that in some ways are perhaps not as good as Crysis, but it runs so much better that it's so easy to overlook and it's still no slouch in the graphics department. :)

I cant wait to finish the campaign so I can really sink my teeth in the MP. Great game this and one of the best FPS's out today. :D

I really enjoyed this game, completed the Campaign in roughly 6h30min and I struggled to tear myself away from the screen. I never expected it to be this good, the technology that went into this game is nothing short of amazing to produce the visuals on screen at such fluid framerates.

It has been a long time coming that I've actually completed a game... and enjoyed it so much! My feeling is that people buy plenty titles these days but how many of us actually finish them? Perhaps i'm just outgrowing gaming in a way, or titles just don't hold the same value for me. Anyway back on topic!

Going back and playing Crysis 1 just feels slow paced and well, a bit boring in comparison.
I think the music really helped to create the atmosphere in the game as well as create suspension and tension at certain points. I much preferred the pace of Crysis 2 over the original, and the levels were fantastic. Being a Sci-Fi and a FPS fan this game really delivers on all fronts. Not to mention value for money with Crysis 2 is good going for only R299 at some online stores.

I can definitely see myself trying my hands at a second play through on the hardest difficulty, ,ot something I often do. Usually I stick to multiplayer titles for social reasons, it has been really difficult to find a singleplayer title that has provided as much entertainment as Crysis 2 in the last few years. (well for me at least)

Only picked up my copy yesterday but I'm enjoying the SP so far. As for MP I unfortunately haven't been able to play since I'm having exactly the sae problem I had with the BETA..... I can't log in.

You'd think they would have fixed this by now since a lot of people had the same problem but I guess they decided to bring out the game first and fix shit later as is the case with most games these days.

Hopefully it won't take as long as BLOPS to sort out their shit.

Patch 1.1 is out and should address all the issues

Patch 1.1 came out the day it was released. Mine downloaded after I installed the game, through EA download manager. Maybe this is why some of the people disconnect from the servers? Doesn't make sense that they can play for a while before being disconnected though..

So far it's good. Nothing more. Five hours in , and nothing really stands out - I was really expecting a bit more meat on the bones this time around.

I also stopped playing because of the bug that causes you to loose the upgrade currency (catalyst? cant remember the name) when you log.

But once that is fixed, its on like donkey kong!
Its a very good game and I love the sneaky-sneaky sniper gameplay. Will see if it holds up once I face more aliens. They tend to not give a **** about me being in cloak or on a rooftop.

Im not to psyched to comment on the game as I am on the "bad experience" side of the game. I played up till the mission called Hargreave and was collecting my nano catalyst when I got killed, so I reloaded at the beginning of the level (because that is where the auto save saves and there are no self saves or quick saves) and started to replay the level. A bit in I decided Im going to have a sleep and continue on the next day. As a note, at this point I had about 500 NC saved up.

Returning to the game the next day, I fired up the level and then proceeded to pwn some bad guys. As I picked up the Ranged Scar the gun showed I had -140 ammo and nothing in the clip. After collecting from an ammo dump, the gun informed me that I had 40 in the clip and 0 extra. Shooting out the 40 reported the gun as empty - refilling at an ammo dump again just took the gun to 40. This does not bother me so much so I switch out guns and continue shooting stuff and collecting nano catalyst. I went to the suit menu to upgrade with the NC I have and the game shows me I have zero (so 500 of last night plus my 300 I collected today makes 0). I reload the level starting from scratch again (checking my NC it is on zero). Shot a few things, collected some more NC and still on zero.

Moral of the story: One of the main mechanics of the game (suit upgrade) is broken. When the counter hits zero (which happens when you leave the game and come back) it will never go up again. No more upgrades for you, EVER! So at the moment I am not playing the game I paid R300 for because I am waiting for a patch to fix the game breaking bug of the SP.
