Playstation 3 HDD upgrade 320gb to 750gb issue

I recently bought a 750GB western digital drive for my PS3.

The problem is, it cannot seem to work in the ps3? System is unable to boot and gives me some white writing on the screen asking that I should reinstall the OS via USB.


I have been all over google, even on the 3rd page of results and I just cannot seem to get it working.

Have also went through the whole recovery menu of the PS3, but the closest I get is to rebuild the file system on the hard disk and then I get : " The hard disk cannot be accessed"

I have formatted it into FAT32 on my PC, but even that did not work.


Have any of you done a similar upgrade before? I saw some guys have 1TB in their PS3 so size cannot be an issue.

When you change the HDD of PS you need to have the latest firmware on a USB when you boot it for the first time.

As long as the HDD fit in the housing you shouldn't have problems.

There is a lot of youtube videos showing you exactly what and how to do it.
 
I checked youtube videos. However I managed to fix the issue as it was indeed firmware related.

My CFW of the PS3 was messing around, downgraded to 3.55 again and then back to 4.53.

All is well now
